\n\tWhen Vince Gill<\/a> was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame<\/a> in 2007, the singer, songwriter, and guitarist was only 50 years old, making him the second-youngest inductee in the Hall\u2019s history. Johnny Cash and Eddy Arnold were both 48 when they joined Nashville\u2019s hallowed institution in 1980 and 1966, respectively.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring an interview on Rolling Stone\u2019s Nashville Now<\/a> podcast, Gill says he wondered if his induction was a wee bit premature.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was grateful. There was a part of me that kind of thought, \u2018A little early,\u2019 honestly,\u201d Gill says. \u201cWhat I wanted to do after the fact was earn it. Make people be grateful that they did it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWithout question, Gill pulled that off. As both a solo artist \u2014 he\u2019s currently in the midst of releasing a series of EPs titled 50 Years From Home \u2014 and, now, as a member of the Eagles, he\u2019s been an ambassador for country music and Nashville itself.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe same can be said of Taylor Swift<\/a>, who could be eligible this year based on the criteria for induction in the Modern Era category, which requires \u201c20-plus years since national prominence.\u201d Swift released her debut album and her breakthrough single, \u201cTim McGraw,\u201d in 2006. Though some may argue that \u201cnational prominence\u201d didn\u2019t occur until the following year with the success of singles like \u201cOur Song\u201d and \u201cTeardrops on My Guitar.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEither way, Gill sees a future with Swift inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. \u201cI think they\u2019ll put her in there. Why wouldn\u2019t you?\u201d he says. \u201cA lot of people don\u2019t realize she\u2019s arguably the biggest donor that\u2019s ever been to the Country Music Hall of Fame. I\u2019m crazy about her. I fully support that.\u201d<\/p>\n
