The UN reports more than one million displaced in Lebanon as Israeli attacks escalate, with children making up one-third.<\/p>\n

Israeli air raids have killed at least four people in southern Lebanon as dozens were reported killed<\/a> across the war-battered country over the past two days, on this punishing front of the wider conflict<\/a> launched by the United States and Israel against Iran that has embroiled the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Two people were killed in an Israeli air strike on a house on the outskirts of Adloun on Thursday, about 17km (11 miles) south of Sidon, Lebanon\u2019s National News Agency (NNA) reported.<\/p>\n

Another two were killed and eight were wounded in a separate Israeli attack on the Tyre district, NNA said.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in southern Lebanon, Israel shelled the entrances to the towns of Chihine and Marwahin, near the border with Israel.<\/p>\n

Israeli warplanes also launched two air raids overnight near homes in al-Sarira in the Jezzine district, \u201ccausing cracks in houses and shattered windows\u201d, NNA said, while Al Jazeera reported strikes on areas near the town of Khiam, the city of Bint Jbeil and Mayfadoun.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Sheikh Ragheb Harb University Hospital in Toul, on the outskirts of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, issued a statement that an Israeli attack on an adjacent building had caused significant damage to a number of the hospital\u2019s facilities, including the intensive care unit.<\/p>\n

The hospital\u2019s management said the attack was a flagrant violation of international law and posed a direct threat to the safety of patients and staff, the agency reported.<\/p>\n

Israel has decimated medical facilities<\/a> and killed hundreds of medics during its genocidal war on Gaza.<\/p>\n

At least 45 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon over the past two days, and more than 100 injured, including children, Lebanon\u2019s Ministry of Public Health said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Israeli assaults took place across the country, including the capital, Beirut, Baalbek in the east, and Sidon in the south.<\/p>\n

Israeli strikes hit central Beirut multiple times on Wednesday as fighting with Hezbollah intensified. The Lebanese-armed group announced that its troops destroyed six Israeli Merkava tanks in southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n

The attack took place during an attempt by Israeli forces to advance into the town of Taybeh towards the Deir Siryan area, Hezbollah said.<\/p>\n

At least 968 people have been \u200ckilled in Israeli strikes since March 2, according to Lebanese authorities. The World Health Organization said more than 100 of those killed were children.<\/p>\n

The United Nations warned on Wednesday that more than one million people have been displaced in Lebanon as Israeli attacks escalated across the country, with children being nearly one-third of those uprooted.<\/p>\n

Top French diplomat to visit Lebanon<\/p>\n

Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot will arrive in Lebanon on Thursday to show \u201cFrance\u2019s support and solidarity with the Lebanese people\u201d, according to his office.<\/p>\n

Barrot will meet with Lebanon\u2019s President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, NNA reported, citing a statement from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

It cited the ministry as saying that the\u00a0people of Lebanon have been \u201cdragged into a war they didn\u2019t choose\u201d. Barrot spoke by phone with his Israeli and US counterparts earlier on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the European Union has called on Israel to halt its attacks on Lebanon.<\/p>\n
