This brought the February 2026 update and fixed 36 security issues from the previous version of the OS. That said, the phones were expected to receive another update with the March 2026 security patch later this month. While we’re waiting on that, Samsung has reportedly pushed a new update to the Galaxy S26 Ultra in China, but halted it in no time.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra update reportedly halted shortly after rollout

Popular tipster, Ice Universe on X, reports that on March 20, the South Korean tech giant released a software update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra in China. This carried firmware version S9480ZCU1AZCG and weighed 982.88MB in size. The changelog, which is in Chinese, says that the update improves system stability and reliability.

While that sounds like a pretty useful update, Samsung reportedly halted it shortly after rolling it out. There’s no explanation from Samsung’s side about the pause yet. But usually, such rollbacks happen if any emergency issues come to light post-release.

The rollout may resume soon

Samsung should ideally resume the rollout once it irons out the issues that triggered it to pause. The translated changelog shows that it’s still on the February 2026 security patch.

Separately, the first internal build of One UI 9 for the Galaxy S26 Ultra made a surprise appearance. This version will be based on Google’s upcoming Android 17 OS. The early build looks somewhat similar to the current One UI 8.5, except for the volume and brightness sliders in the quick panel, which are now bigger.

The next version may introduce split notifications, lock screen widgets, and much more. The stable One UI 9 may debut on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 later this year.

Last week, Samsung rolled out the first software update for its latest flagships, the Galaxy S26 series.
