{"id":35479,"date":"2025-09-24T17:04:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-24T17:04:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/35479\/"},"modified":"2025-09-24T17:04:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T17:04:12","slug":"preparing-for-a-quantum-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/35479\/","title":{"rendered":"Preparing for a Quantum Future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>]]><\/p>\n<p>\n  In this episode of Lock It Down with Security Magazine, I had the opportunity to speak with Samantha Mabey, Director of Digital Security Solutions Marketing at Entrust, about how organizations can prepare for a quantum future.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  As quantum computing becomes a more prominent topic in the world of cybersecurity, security leaders are becoming more and more aware of how current protections for digital data will be insufficient in this post-quantum world.\u00a0Before quantum computing becomes a reality, organizations must be prepared \u2014 or else risk falling behind.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Yet, while a quarter of digital trust professionals believe quantum computing will arrive within five years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.securitymagazine.com\/articles\/101597-95-of-organizations-have-no-quantum-computing-roadmap\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">95% of organizations have no quantum computing roadmap<\/a> to prepare them for this future. Only 5% indicate preparation for quantum computing is a high priority.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  According to research from Microsoft, this future could arrive sooner rather than later. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.securitymagazine.com\/articles\/101413-quantum-computing-could-arrive-soon-due-to-microsofts-new-chip\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">development of Majorana 1<\/a> could lead to quantum computing within years rather than decades. With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.securitymagazine.com\/articles\/101466-cyber-leaders-must-prepare-quantum-security-now-research-finds\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reports suggesting<\/a> that quantum computing could impact authentication security, data encryption, certificate and key management and more, failing to build resiliency for a post-quantum world could leave organizations vulnerable.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mabey states, \u201cWhen this quantum computer is realized that breaks current cryptography, current crypto will essentially be rendered obsolete. So everything that we rely on today \u2014 for communications, for data security \u2014 it\u2019s going to become exposed and vulnerable. And of course, that day it\u2019s realized, it\u2019s almost like flipping a switch.
