Apple’s iPhone 20, which is expected to debut in 2027 and commemorate 20 years since the first iPhone launched all the way back in 2007. It might not be able to sport the look and feel of a seamless slab of glass if the latest tidbits from a well-known Weibo-based tipster end up as prescient and the Cupertino giant fails to make a last-minute breakthrough.<\/p>\n

According to a veritable onslaught of previous leaks, Apple was apparently gunning for an all-screen design<\/a> for the iPhone 20, replete with an under-display Face ID module and selfie camera sensor. The radical redesign was also supposed to feature a bezel-less, waterfall display<\/a>, with all four sides curving at the edges to meet the frame.<\/p>\n

Now, however, according to the Weibo-based tipster Fixed Focus Digital, Apple is apparently encountering problems moving sensors beneath the display (translated via Google):<\/p>\n

“Apple’s progress on under-display technology hasn’t been smooth. It’s highly likely they’ll stick with smaller screens, and are still a long way from a true full-screen display\u2026”<\/p>\n

This suggests that the iPhone 20 is unlikely to sport a radically altered design. What’s more, if Apple’s under-screen travails persist, we are also unlikely to see a smaller Dynamic Island<\/a> on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro duo, where the Face ID module was previously projected to move beneath the display<\/a>, allowing for a smaller pill-shaped cutout for the selfie camera.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, today’s tidbit aligns with a recent leak by another Weibo-based tipster, Digital Chat Station, who had declared that the iPhone 18 Pro duo would feature the same chassis, camera plateau, and Dynamic Island<\/a> as the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.<\/p>\n
