\n\tBerlin pulsed with energy this week as IFA Berlin<\/a>, rechristened with the slogan \u201cInnovation for All,\u201d kicked off from the city\u2019s Messe grounds. From Sept. 5-9, the fair drew not only industry titans \u2014 Samsung, LG, Bosch, TCL, Hisense, Electrolux and more \u2014 but also content and tech creators from 49 countries.<\/p>\n

\n\tIFA celebrated its 100th anniversary last year but CEO Leif Lindner felt he had even more to prove going into the 2025 showcase. Rather than focusing on specific tech trends, Lindner\u2019s focus this year was creating a culture-forward spectacle that would be felt throughout the city, rather than an industry conference relegated to techies. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis year was to prove that we\u2019re going in the right direction, but with adaptions left and right because we see trends clearly and visibly,\u201d Lindner told Variety following the showcase\u2019s opening conference on Wednesday morning. \u201cI don\u2019t have to tell you guys how fast things are changing, so our goal this year was to bring together the relevant people and to be open-minded. \u2018Innovation for all\u2019 means bringing people together: journalists, retailers, exhibitors.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThis year\u2019s showcase a hosted a record number of 1,900 exhibitors \u2014 100 more than last year. By day, the fair hosted a constellation of hubs and activations that went beyond static displays. Highlights of the visitor experience included zones dedicated to Mobility Track, where e-bikes, autonomous transport concepts and charging infrastructure demonstrated the seamless integration of AI and sustainability. Meanwhile, the Beauty Hub, Gaming Specials and Outdoor Cooking & Gardening areas offered immersive ways to interact with tech in lifestyle categories.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs daylight faded, the fields beyond the exhibition halls transformed into a stage set for the much-anticipated IFA Sommergarten, which returned with a four-day festival. The Opening Night on Sept. 4 featured performances from Berlin\u2019s Deine Cousine, duos like EVIL JARED \u00d7 KROGI and local up-and-comers such as Sorvina, Danilo Timm and Anne West. The fest also brought through talent like Max Herre and Joy Denalane, and culminated with an evening hosted by Berlin\u2019s beloved podcasting duo Jan B\u00f6hmermann and Olli Schulz of \u201cFest & Flauschig.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStandout innovations this year included the ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept by Lenovo<\/a>, a laptop whose screen rotates from landscape to portrait, and its dynamic Smart Motion Concept stand that adapts to the user\u2019s posture. In smart home and cleaning tech, innovations like Eufy\u2019s stair-climbing MarsWalker robovac<\/a>, Dyson\u2019s Spot+Scrub AI robot <\/a>and Roborock\u2019s 4-in-1 Homewide Cleaning Combo<\/a> \u2014 an integrated washer-dryer-robot vacuum-mop unit \u2014 demonstrated some of the most high-tech smart home devices we\u2019ve seen.<\/p>\n

\n\tCreative uses of AI showed up across categories: Acemate\u2019s Tennis Robot <\/a>offered intelligent sports coaching, Anker\u2019s Soundcore Work AI<\/a> provided GPT-4.1 transcription, while SwitchBot\u2019s Noa and Niko <\/a>fluffy companions brought AI into emotional (and only slightly eerie\u2026) interactions. At the same time, the spotlight fell on portable power with Bluetti\u2019s sodium-ion Pioneer Na power station <\/a>and Anker\u2019s 26,250 mAh Prime Power Bank.<\/a><\/p>\n
