\n\tBBC Studios<\/a> is adapting one of Denmark\u2019s longest-running series in Germany<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tTeen show Klassen<\/a>, which follows everyday dramas for pupils and teachers in a school, will be remade by BBC Studios Germany for the WDR network and BBC Studios is eyeing a potential French version. <\/p>\n

\n\tKlassen has aired more than 1000 episodes on Danish broadcaster DR and has also been remade in Norway and Sweden.<\/p>\n

\n\tEva Holtmann, who runs fiction for BBC Studios Germany, revealed the news at Series Mania<\/a> and said the show will shoot in the summer. L\u00e9a Gimonneau-Sorel, a producer at BBC Studios France, said her department is \u201cinterested\u201d in a French version.<\/p>\n

\n\tHoltmann said BBC Studios Germany is looking for \u201cyoung fresh talent behind the camera\u201d to be involved with Klassen. The idea came up during an annual BBC Studios scripted exchange with the heads of labels from across the group, she added. \u201cWe sat in a room for two days talking about development slates and what could be interesting,\u201d said Holtmann. \u201cWe are super happy this worked out and will be on in Germany too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHoltmann also confirmed a second season of the German version of hit UK comedy Ghosts, which also airs on WDR. Her team also adapts the UK\u2019s Ladhood in Germany, titled Chabos, which is set in a different time period to the original and for its second season will focus on a female perspective. Holtmann described this as an \u201cinspired by\u201d show rather than a straight adaptation like Ghosts. <\/p>\n

\n\tMatt Forde, who runs BBC Studios Global Productions, said the scripted exchanges are \u201cnot rocket science\u201d but it \u201cdepends on the mindset going into them\u201d for ideas.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt one of these exchanges, he said a collaboration was struck between BBC Studios-owned Baby Reindeer maker Clerkenwell Films and BBC Studios in Australia over Netflix surfing drama Breakers, and the latter will now provide production services. \u201cNetflix wanted to have partners in the UK and Australia that they trusted. And we can then make [the show] at an interesting cost,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are doing more and more of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tForde recently revealed to us <\/a>that he is seeking a European IP scout to find new scripted formats.
