There was a rare moment of agreement amongst the men on Wednesday night’s episode of Married At First Sight<\/a>, but it left viewers “disgusted”.<\/p>\n

As we near the end of the experiment<\/a>, the couples are staring down the barrel of what life will look like after they say their final vows.<\/p>\n

They’ve travelled to their partner’s hometowns, seen family and friends, and envisioned how they would handle a new city, with many of the people within each couple being from different states.<\/p>\n

It’s giving some contestants<\/a> last-minute jitters as they’re concerned about moving their entire lives for a relationship that might not be in the best shape.<\/p>\n

But Danny Hewitt revealed to the group another reason why he’s nervous about moving to Adelaide to be with his wife Bec Zacharia.<\/p>\n

“I suppose everyone looks at it different, but it makes you feel like a bit of a b***h moving in with a woman,” he said.<\/p>\n

His feelings were amplified because he and Bec had a fight during their visit to her home in Adelaide, and it made him realise he would be very alone in the capital city if he moved.<\/p>\n

But he found comfort at the dinner party with all the other straight grooms.<\/p>\n

MAFS grooms united in wanting to be ‘the alpha male’<\/p>\n

Scott McCristal agreed that men liked to be a “provider” and indicated he wanted to buy the home he and Gia Fleur would move into.<\/p>\n

“I’ll be honest, I couldn’t go to hers,” he said, referring to moving into Gia’s home. “I’m gonna pay for everything. That’s just a manly thing.”<\/p>\n

He claimed that most men like to feel like “the boss” and “the alpha male”.<\/p>\n

Steven Danyluk was the next groom who agreed, and insisted he wanted to be in charge of providing the home for him and Rachel Gilmore.<\/p>\n

“I can proudly say it as well,” he told the dinner table. “If me and Rachel do something, I would feel more comfortable if Rachel moved into my place…feel like a provider.<\/p>\n

“I was brought up on those values. That’s just what I think.”<\/p>\n

David Momoh and Filip Gregov also admitted that it’s the man’s job to “take care of the big bills”, with the latter even claiming “females feel more secure” in that format.<\/p>\n

Chris Robinson was the only groom who disagreed, but he said it’s different when you’re in a gay relationship as both men can be the provider.<\/p>\n

He said he “understood” where Danny was coming from, but didn’t agree with it.<\/p>\n

How did everyone react to the ‘provider’ belief<\/p>\n

Many of the brides hit back at the claim, with some saying relationships are a team effort, and something like a home should be both peoples’ responsibilities.<\/p>\n

Bec thought her husband’s perspective was shocking, and claimed her home is worth $3 million, only has $97,000 left on the mortgage, is five minutes from the CBD, and sits on 800 square metres of land.<\/p>\n

Gia agreed with the grooms and said she was more “traditional” in whose role it was to provide the home.<\/p>\n

But the three experts were surprised at Danny’s admission that sparked the group consensus.<\/p>\n

“[Danny’s] talking about feeling emasculated if she was the one who owned the house,” Mel said.<\/p>\n

“And let’s not use the term b***h in that way either. Not cool.”<\/p>\n

John added that Danny had “really dropped the ball here”.<\/p>\n

Viewers couldn’t believe all the heterosexual grooms shared the same view, with some labelling it “disgusting”<\/a> and giving “manosphere vibes”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Do these idiots realise they could combine their money and get a nicer place they share right or do they just have more money than brains?” said one.<\/p>\n

“This season is a great advertisement for the joys of staying single,” added another.<\/p>\n

“Not impressed AT ALL by all the men here. I am shocked,” wrote a third.<\/p>\n

“That is not what relationships are about! Get over yourself guys! It\u2019s not 1920,” commented a fourth.<\/p>\n

Danny’s admission left Bec fuming as he hadn’t discussed his true feelings until it was in front of everyone, so this could cause major tension in their relationship.<\/p>\n

The final commitment ceremony will be this Sunday before the couples say the final vows and decide whether they want to stay together or break up.<\/p>\n
