{"id":362018,"date":"2026-03-28T02:07:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-28T02:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/362018\/"},"modified":"2026-03-28T02:07:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-28T02:07:08","slug":"with-new-plugins-feature-openai-officially-takes-codex-beyond-coding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/362018\/","title":{"rendered":"With new plugins feature, OpenAI officially takes Codex beyond coding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OpenAI has added plugin support to its agentic coding app Codex in an apparent attempt to match similar features offered by competitors Anthropic (in Claude Code) and Google (in Gemini\u2019s command line interface).<\/p>\n<p>What OpenAI calls \u201cplugins\u201d are actually bundles that may include skills (\u201cprompts that describe workflows to Codex\u201d\u2014a standard feature in tools like this these days), app integrations, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers.<\/p>\n<p>The idea is that they make it possible to configure Codex in certain ways for specific tasks to be easier for the user and replicable across multiple users in an organization.<\/p>\n<p>By and large, they don\u2019t enable anything that wasn\u2019t possible before. Power users could already introduce custom instructions, use MCP servers, and so on to create much of this functionality.
