In an Instagram video, software development intern Amy Arora broke down her monthly spending, offering a refreshingly practical look at budgeting in a city often labelled as one of India\u2019s most expensive.<\/p>\n
Her biggest expense, she explained, is rent. Living in a paying guest (PG) accommodation, she spends around Rs 7,200 a month. While it takes up a significant chunk of her budget, she noted that it is still far more affordable than renting an independent flat in the city.<\/p>\n
Food comes next. To keep costs under control, Arora relies on a mess service, spending approximately Rs 3,600 per month. This allows her to avoid frequent ordering while ensuring regular meals without stretching her finances.<\/p>\n
Her travel expenses remain relatively low, at about Rs 1,600 monthly, mainly because she only commutes to the office twice a week. This hybrid work setup helps her cut down significantly on daily transport costs.<\/p>\n

What stood out to many viewers, however, is that her budget isn\u2019t purely about essentials. Arora also makes room for personal spending, setting aside Rs 2,000 for dining out or ordering in, and another Rs 2,000 for online shopping.
