Neighbours<\/a> star Matt Wilson has landed a new role following his exit from the beloved Australian soap<\/a>. Famed for portraying Aaron Brennan, the actor will now join a project that is inspired by old Hollywood tales.<\/p>\n

Wilson is part of the cast for Love in the Moonlight, a new short film from writer Cassidy Krygger. The supernatural romance will see the actor portray Jack Stirling, a Hollywood star who tragically died on-set in the 1950s.<\/p>\n

His ghost lingers around the place of his death, but his spirits are lifted when he comes into contact with a woman in the modern age. As per the logline, their first meeting is “sharp, unexpected and charged with something neither of them can ignore”.<\/p>\n

The three-minute film is a proof-of-concept, with the scene being the opening one in a feature film that is being developed. It is said to be “inspired by classic Hollywood romance”, blending “old-world glamour with a modern setting”.<\/p>\n

“This is a love story that isn\u2019t supposed to happen. That\u2019s what makes it interesting,” said Krygger, who has also written and produced the film in addition to having a starring role opposite Wilson.<\/p>\n

The proof-of-concept, which is billed as a “supernatural romantic comedy set between modern-day Australia and the golden age of Hollywood”, will premiere on the Hollywoodland Photos YouTube channel on 26 April. <\/p>\n

The project comes after Wilson left his role on Neighbours in August<\/a>, though he did return for the soap’s (second) finale in December. As part of the character’s exit storyline, Aaron embarked on a romance with Rhett Norman.<\/p>\n

Wilson isn’t the only Neighbours star to land a new project this week, with soap legend Jason Donovan set to take the stage in Salford later this year<\/a> as part of the Lowry Theatre’s production of High School Musical. <\/p>\n

“High School Musical was such a massive part of my kids’ early childhood,” said the actor, who played Scott Robinson in the soap, in a statement. “As a parent and as a musical fan, the film was family entertainment at its best. Magical! [I] loved it.”<\/p>\n

“Popular culture has a cycle and I\u2019m delighted to be joining this new, reimagined High School Musical theatrical experience 20 years on from when I first discovered the film. Looking forward to seeing all in Salford,” he added.<\/p>\n

Neighbours concluded in December 2025, but classic episodes are available to watch via Prime Video<\/a> and YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n
