\u201cI kinda let the algorithm take me on a journey,\u201d Emma Chamberlain says. She\u2019s referring to her slow-and-steady process of shopping for vintage online. \u201cThe internet\u2014it is a mess. It is toxic, but I\u2019m gonna use the algorithm to my benefit, if I can.\u201d<\/p>\n
When her schedule allows it, however, the podcaster and businesswoman loves to shop in person. She reveals some of her favorite places to do just that on this Tuesday\u2019s episode of The Run-Through, with guest hosts Margaux Anbouba<\/a> and Christian Allaire<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I\u2019m in New York, Chinatown,\u201d Chamberlain says, shouting out James Veloria<\/a>. \u201cBut also all the little shops up in that little shopping center.\u201d<\/p>\n At home in Los Angeles, Chamberlain has one hotspot she keeps going back to: the Rose Bowl Flea Market<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s so wonderful and it\u2019s massive and it\u2019s so overwhelming, but it\u2019s cool,\u201d says Chamberlain. \u201cIt feels very LA, and it\u2019s all in one place.\u201d<\/p>\n When she finds just the thing, Chamberlain isn\u2019t one for haggling\u2014she does quite the opposite, in fact. \u201cI am a tipper,\u201d she explains. \u201cI\u2019m just so grateful I found it. I\u2019m like, take the full price. Here\u2019s also an extra $10. I\u2019m just so lucky. I don\u2019t want to buy something unless I\u2019d pay more for it than it\u2019s worth.\u201d<\/p>\n This May, Chamberlain will be back on Vogue\u2019s Met Gala carpet as Vogue\u2019s special correspondent, a post she\u2019s held for several consecutive years. \u201cI don\u2019t expect anything. Every year I\u2019m like, \u2018This could be the last year,\u2019\u201d she says. \u201cI am so grateful that I\u2019ve ever been able to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n Also on this episode, Vogue Runway\u2019s Irene Kim and producer Alex Jhamb Burns take listeners inside the second annual Vogue Vintage Market this past Saturday.
