\"ViveckViveck Vaswani has opened up about why he never collaborated again with Salman Khan after Patthar Ke Phool, even as he acknowledged the superstar\u2019s professionalism in certain setups. Viveck Vaswani has opened up about why he never collaborated again with Salman Khan<\/a> after Patthar Ke Phool, even as he acknowledged the superstar\u2019s professionalism in certain setups.In a conversation with Vickey Lalwani, Vaswani spoke about discipline, creative processes, and his experience working with Salman.When asked if he was never tempted to work with Salman again, Vaswani was clear. \u201cI wasn\u2019t,\u201d he said. \u201cI cannot work where there is liquor. I cannot work jaha log daru pite hai, indiscipline ke sath kaam karte hai,\u201d he added.However, he clarified that he is not against collaborating with the actor entirely. \u201cIf I get the Salman who works with Sooraj Barjatya<\/a>, then I would do it,\u201d he said.\u201cBecause with them, Salman is completely disciplined, a top professional\u2014he gives them his best. If I work with Salman, I would like to give him the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018They want Salman the actor, not the star\u2019<\/p>\n

Vaswani pointed out that Salman\u2019s working style depends on the filmmaker. \u201cWith some filmmakers, he is in control\u2014like Aditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Sooraj Barjatya,\u201d he said.\u201cThese are producers who don\u2019t make films just on Salman\u2019s name. They get the same respect because they are very big banners. They don\u2019t allow interference. They need Salman the actor, not Salman the star.\u201dDrawing a line between creative input and professionalism, Vaswani said, \u201cNo, no… I don\u2019t want indiscipline.\u201d\u201cIf you want to change something, sit with the director, change your dialogues, change your costume\u2014that\u2019s fine. Interference is okay. But indiscipline is not acceptable.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u2018Salim saab was there… you have to respect the writer\u2019<\/p>\n

Recalling Patthar Ke Phool, he said, \u201cHis father, Salim Khan<\/a>, was there. He had written the script. Salim saab was very kind to me.\u201dHe added that while Salman did suggest changes, the writer\u2019s authority was final. \u201cHe would say, \u2018Can we do it this way?\u2019 and those were not bad suggestions. But when Salim-Javed were writing, I had heard they would not allow even one word to be changed.\u201d\u201cYou have to respect the stature of a giant. That\u2019s why those films succeeded.\u201dDespite everything, Vaswani maintained that Salman was collaborative during discussions. \u201cWhen you sat with him on a scene, he would think. He was not rigid,\u201d he said.\u201cBut if someone said, \u2018Change this,\u2019 he would say, \u2018Go to the writer\u2014I haven\u2019t written it.\u2019 So there was a hierarchy we all respected.\u201d <\/p>\n

Reflecting on how the industry has changed, Vaswani said, \u201cThose were very different times. We would meet, sit, discuss things. There were no laptops, no emails.\u201d\u201cWe were more human\u2014we would argue, sit together and resolve things. Today, people send 200 emails,\u201d he added.He also shared that he continues to stay in touch with the Khan family. \u201cI meet them sometimes\u2014at parties, film premieres.
