Lizzo has revealed she kept a vow to remain a virgin until she “won a Grammy”.
During an appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast on Tuesday, the singer-songwriter shared that she waited until she was in her thirties to have sex.<\/p>\n
“I was a late bloomer. I lied about it for a long time,” she told co-hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco. “Isn’t that crazy? I wasn’t even thinking about it… I just promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy. I’m so deada*s (serious).”<\/p>\n
The Juice hitmaker, real name Melissa Jefferson, divulged that she lost her virginity in 2020 – not long after she won her first three Grammy Awards in January 2020.<\/p>\n
“I feel a weight off of my chest right now,” the 37-year-old continued. “It was so embarrassing. I was in a friend group of girls. We were all girl-ing one night and it was like, ‘Wait, Lizzo, are you a virgin?’ I remember, it was so embarrassing. I said, ‘I love the D.’ I said that. And it held me over for a little while.”<\/p>\n
Elsewhere in the conversation, Lizzo revealed how her first kiss took place when she was 21.<\/p>\n
“Ya’ll have no idea. It was religious for me too. Like, when we were teenagers at my church, we all made a pact that we wouldn’t do anything before marriage. And then, I was just so scared. Like, nobody wanted to kiss me,” she explained. “It was a New Year’s Eve thing, and he forced it on me. I was really mad and I was like, ‘My first kiss is ruined.’ I was so mad.”<\/p>\n
The About Damn Time star has been in a relationship with Myke Wright since 2022.<\/p>\n
Lizzo has reportedly completed work on her fifth studio album, Love in Real Life.
