A24\u2019s \u201cMother Mary\u201d has nearly arrived.<\/p>\n
In it, Anne Hathaway plays a pop star opposite Michaela Coel\u2019s fashion designer, who re-connect ahead of a new tour. But before the film hits theaters on April 17, another trailer has just debuted. Watch it below.<\/p>\n
The Wednesday teaser also features a new track from the official \u201cMother Mary\u201d soundtrack album, which also drops on April 17 \u2013 \u201cMy Mouth Is Lonely for You.\u201d You can listen to it below. The songs for \u201cMother Mary\u201d were written by Jack Antonoff and Charli xcx, with additional songs written by FKA Twigs.<\/p>\n
\u201cMother Mary\u201d is the latest from singular writer\/director David Lowery, who previously made \u201cA Ghost Story\u201d and \u201cThe Green Knight\u201d for A24. Hunter Schafer, FKA Twigs, Sian Clifford, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay and Alba Baptista also star.<\/p>\n
Much anticipation and speculation has swirled around \u201cMother Mary.\u201d The movie shot, for over a year, beginning in May 2023 (it received a waver to continue production during the SAG-AFTRA strike). What will a lavish musical from the director of \u201cThe Old Man & the Gun\u201d look like? We cannot wait to find out.<\/p>\n
Hathaway has a very busy year, with \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2,\u201d Christopher Nolan\u2019s \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d and the J.J. Abrams-produced \u201cThe End of Oak Street\u201d all opening this summer, and the Colleen Hoover adaptation \u201cVerity\u201d arriving from Amazon MGM Studios this fall. Coel also has Steven Soderbergh\u2019s excellent art world caper \u201cThe Christophers\u201d opening on the same day as \u201cMother Mary.\u201d<\/p>\n
