Comic fans are no strangers to a good ol\u2019 fashioned Batman<\/a> vs. Superman<\/a> story, but this latest face-off between these two iconic heroes comes with a major twist and debuts the Dark Knight’s wildest use of Kryptonite to date. After this radical display, we may never be able to look at the glowing rock the same way again.<\/p>\n

The iconic duo of writer Mark Waid and artist Dan Mora return for Batman \/ Superman: World’s Finest #50, a special supersized issue for this series milestone. This issue features two stories. However, the first story, Dream Team, is of particular interest. This story sees Bruce and Clark teaming up once again, but this time to fight global insomnia caused by Doctor Destiny\u2019s malicious use of the Dreamstone. To combat the villain, Batman and Superman get Zatanna to transport them to the dream realm, where Destiny is hiding. However, things go awry, leading the two best friends to fight each other rather than the villain.<\/p>\n

Kryptonite has always been synonymous with Superman, not Batman. Now, DC flips the script, turning it into a shocking weakness for the Dark Knight.<\/p>\n

Batman Debuts His Most Creative Use of Kryptonite Yet <\/p>\n

Upon entering the dream realm, Superman and Batman encounter numerous wonky situations that reflect the ridiculous nature of dreams. However, as they combat these wonky situations, the two partners grow increasingly agitated with each other and begin to bicker and make pointed remarks that eventually lead to an all-out brawl between them.<\/p>\n

While comic fans have seen Superman and Batman face off against each other<\/a> countless times, this fight is unlike any before, given that the dream realm allows Bruce and Clark to attack each other in increasingly fantastical ways that would be outright impossible in reality. For example, Bruce transforms into a giant bat creature that puts Man-Bat to shame.<\/p>\n

However, Bruce\u2019s reality-bending attack against Clark doesn\u2019t stop here, as the Dark Knight summons shards of Kryptonite out of thin air and begins to hurl the radioactive rock at Superman, impaling him. Bruce as a Kryptonite-summoning bat creature is one of the most wild evolutions of weaponized Green K to date, and stands out among the other times he\u2019s used Clark\u2019s ultimate weakness against him.<\/p>\n

While this would typically go down as one of the greatest Kryptonite weaponizations in the history of comics, there\u2019s a twist. Given that this is a dream realm, Superman smartly dreams up Kryptonite no longer being able to hurt him, declaring, \u201cI see you\u2019re Kryptonite, Batman\u2026 And it can\u2019t hurt me in the dream if I don\u2019t let it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Using the reality-bending nature of dreams, Superman transforms the Kryptonite<\/a> shards that impale him into a metal-like material, thereby eliminating the effect that the radioactive shards would typically have on him. Not long after this development, Bruce and Clark begin to realize they are acting out of character.<\/p>\n

This self-awareness helps break them of their nonsensical rage towards each other, as they realize that Dr. Destiny is influencing their emotions in the dream realm, allowing them to refocus on the villain. While this was a short-lived fight between the two, and an even shorter-lived weaponization of Kryptonite, it still marks one of Batman\u2019s wildest uses of the anti-Superman weapon.<\/p>\n
