\n\tEXCLUSIVE: After hoping to get a deal done for Ryan Gosling to star<\/a> in Universal<\/a>\u2018s secret untitled project directed by\u00a0Daniels<\/a>, aka\u00a0Daniel Kwan<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Daniel Scheinert<\/a>, sources now say Gosling will no longer be appearing in the film. <\/p>\n

\n\tWhen Deadline first broke the news Gosling was in negotiations to star, we also learned that the film was set to shoot in Los Angeles this summer after receiving a California Tax Credit.<\/a> The project was unable to move off its targeted date. so scheduling could not be worked out with the studio and Gosling to close a deal.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile an exact scheduling reason was not given, Gosling is coming off the smash-hit Amazon MGM Studios pic Project Hail Mary, which has made more than $300 million globally since opening on March 20. A big reason for its success is the huge promotional campaign Gosling and the studio have put on during the past month and a half. Add in the long shoot for his upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter that ended his 2025, a longer break than what was needed to meet shooting dates makes sense for the scheduling conflict.<\/p>\n

\n\tEven with Gosling\u2019s departure, Universal and Daniels are in line to make their targeted dates, and given how high Gosling was on the script, the project is sure to have plenty of suitors chasing the role he was up for. Plot details for the project are unknown. <\/p>\n

\n\tKwan, Scheinert and Jonathan Wang will produce through their Playgrounds\u2019 overall deal with Universal.
