Every weekday the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer holds a “Morning Meeting” livestream at 10:20 a.m. ET. Here’s a recap of Wednesday’s key moments. 1. Stocks rose again Wednesday on hopes that the war in Iran is nearing a resolution. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was leading the way, up roughly 1.5% on the day, while the S & P 500 and blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average were both solidly higher. The moves build off Tuesday’s monster rally that saw all three major indexes register their best one-day gains since May. Jim Cramer said some market watchers are simply chalking this up as “nothing more than a short squeeze,” but he cautioned against thinking that is meaningless. “Every rally on my 42 years on Wall Street starts with a short squeeze. So if you think that’s all it is, be careful. That may mean the real deal,” Jim said. President Donald Trump is set to address the nation at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday, which may help the market get a better sense of what’s next in the Middle East. 2. We’re downgrading Nike to our hold-equivalent 2 rating after another disappointing earnings report. A number of Wall Street firms also downgraded the stock, including JPMorgan. While the headline earnings and sales beat the consensus, the main problem is Nike’s weak guidance is once again forcing Wall Street to lower their future expectations. Jim acknowledged that we misjudged the timing of the turnaround CEO Elliott Hill, as it’s clearly taking longer than expected. Inventory problems and weakness in China have yet to be solved. “It was a very bad call,” Jim said. A wave of insider buying from Hill and board members in December also proved to be misguided. We usually consider insider buying to be a bullish signal. With two bad quarters in a row, Nike is officially in our penalty box. “Don’t want to see three. That would probably mean you’re out,” Director of Portfolio Analysis Jeff Marks said. 3. Boeing shares are again rallying Wednesday, tacking on another 5% move on top of Tuesday’s similar-sized advance. Analysts at Wells Fargo started coverage of the Club name with a buy rating and a price target of $250. They also designated it a top pick, and Jim remains a big fan, too. “I think this is, again, one of my favorite names,” Jim said. The stock has been hurt in recent weeks by the Iran war because investors feared it could lead to a slowdown in travel. But Jim said he’s not surprised to see such a strong share-price recovery on hopes that the war overhang is lifting because “the orders never did die.” He added, “I think Boeing is a launching pad at this point.” 4. Stocks covered in Wednesday’s rapid fire at the end of the video were: Advanced Micro Devices , American Express , Walt Disney , RH and Constellation Brands .
