Hayden Thorpe<\/a> has announced new UK live shows, which will see him perform songs of Wild Beasts<\/a> solo.<\/p>\n

Thorpe co-founded the indie band back in 2002, and they went on to release five albums over the next 15 years \u2013 2008\u2019s \u2018Limbo, Panto\u2019, 2009\u2019s \u2018Two Dancers<\/a>\u2019, 2011\u2019s \u2018Smother\u2019, 2014\u2019s \u2018Present Tense<\/a>\u2019, and 2016\u2019s \u2018Boy King\u2019 .<\/p>\n

The year after that last release, the band confirmed that they were breaking up<\/a>, and Thorpe went on to launch a solo career and share three albums <\/a>\u2013 the latest of which being 2024\u2019s \u2018Ness\u2019.<\/p>\n

Now, he has confirmed plans for some 2026 live shows, which will see him revisit his music with Wild Beasts for the first time in nine years.<\/p>\n

Three new shows have been confirmed for November, taking place in Kendal, Leeds and London. All of them will see him play solo and showcase the songs in their \u201cpurest form\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m fortunate enough that in my daily life I will quite often encounter a kind soul who\u2019ll tell me how much a certain Wild Beasts song, album or show has meant to them,\u201d Thorpe explained. \u201cI\u2019ve come to learn that as time passes, the heart\u2019s connections do not fade and the potency of the music remains strong.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also shared that, like many fans, he has \u201cbeen missing the songs myself of late, so it felt like a ripe time to reach for the high notes and call on my hand\u2019s muscle memory\u201d.<\/p>\n

Coincidentally, the tour also aligns with the 20th anniversary of the band\u2019s first single, \u2018Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe venue choices are also very deliberate. Each room played an important role in the history of the band,\u201d the singer added. \u201cBrewery Arts was our cultural HQ growing up in Kendal, Hoxton Hall was the scene of a breakthrough show for our second album \u2018Two Dancers\u2019 and Brudenell Social Club will always be where we came of age as musicians.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be taking this moment to celebrate the shared history we all have with Wild Beasts music.\u201d<\/p>\n

As well as going on to pursue a solo career after Wild Beasts split, Thorpe has also helped develop a new sound installation called WETLANDS. It is open now at London\u2019s Walthamstow Wetlands, and will run until June.<\/p>\n

Bandmate Tom Fleming has also continued to make music since Wild Beasts disbanded, and began writing under the moniker One True Pairing<\/a>. His second solo record arrived in 2024 and was called \u2018Endless Rain\u2019.<\/p>\n

When Wild Beasts announced their split in 2017, they told fans that while \u201cour hearts and minds have been devoted to the band since we were teenagers\u201d, they had \u201cdecided, for our own reasons and in our own ways, that it is now time to leave this orbit\u201d.<\/p>\n

We consider ourselves remarkably fortunate to have lived out this dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

After sharing the news, artists including Felix White<\/a> (The Maccabees<\/a>) and Yannis Philippakis<\/a> (FOALS<\/a>) took to social media to share their sadness at the decision for the band to part ways.<\/p>\n

The latter described them as \u201cone of the best bands of our time\u201d and added that every album of theirs \u201cwas bold, intriguing & beautiful\u201d. Everything Everything<\/a> also shared a message for the band, writing: \u201cWe always looked up to this band. Their influence on us has been huge and it won\u2019t be the same without them. Long live Wild Beasts\u201d.<\/p>\n
