Brian Cox is not holding back his opinions on his fellow Hollywood actors.<\/p>\n

In an interview with British newspaper The Times<\/a> published Friday, April 3, the Succession alum, 79, shared that he turned down the role of the governor in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which Jonathan Pryce later played.<\/p>\n

However, there\u2019s no love lost there, as the Manhunter actor said the franchise\u2019s lead, Johnny Depp, who famously played<\/a> Captain Jack Sparrow, is \u201cso overblown, so overrated.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Golden Globe Award winner went on to describe Kevin Spacey, whom he worked with on the 1994 film Iron Will, as \u201ca stupid, stupid man.\u201d Cox also called Edward Norton, with whom he acted in the 2002 flick 25th Hour, \u201cA pain in the arse.\u201d Additionally, Cox declared that Ian McKellen\u2019s acting is<\/a> \u201cnot to my taste.\u201d<\/p>\n

As far as directors<\/a> and writers go, the Bourne Identity star referred to Quentin Tarantino as \u201cmeretricious,\u201d said Michael Caton-Jones is \u201ca complete arsehole,\u201d and gave David Hare a \u201csee you next Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cox himself ventured into directing with his film Glenrothan, explaining, \u201cI realized that I\u2019m more egalitarian than a lot of directors, the kind who call themselves visionaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like to honour the actor\u2019s performance. With a Quentin Tarantino film, what you see is all Quentin Tarantino,\u201d he stated. \u201cThat\u2019s not me. I don\u2019t want to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked by the publication if his \u201cbeing so blunt lost you friends or caused you problems,\u201d Cox laughed and admitted, \u201cWell, I don\u2019t know yet if it\u2019s caused me problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, my wife keeps saying, \u2018Brian, be careful. Brian, be careful,’\u201d he noted. \u201cI think, F**k it, I don\u2019t want to be careful any more! I\u2019ll be 80 this year. F**k it! I\u2019m gonna say what I want to say.\u201d<\/p>\n
