The sixth season will follow the same release pattern globally and will be available on Prime Video in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, sub-Saharan Africa, the U.K., and Latin America.<\/p>\n
For the first time, all six episodes and the finale will be released in dozens of languages \u2014 instead of translations being added after the show\u2019s release.<\/p>\n
The highly anticipated sixth season will depict the final 24 hours in the life of Jesus Christ, known as Good Friday. Audiences will see Jesus\u2019 arrest and crucifixion along with the confusion among his disciples that ultimately leads them to scatter.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone knows the basics of this part of the story, but not everyone knows the \u2018why\u2019 of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours,\u201d Jenkins said in a statement. \u201cWe realized this not only deserved a season of television but a standalone full-length theatrical event as well. We wrote and filmed all of it with this in mind.\u201d <\/p>\n
In a previous<\/a> interview with the Deseret News, Jenkins said the sixth season will focus on \u201csurrender.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re watching Jesus ultimately surrender to something that was extraordinarily painful,\u201d Jenkins said. <\/p>\n He continued, \u201cThe disciples confused, broken, wondering, having to surrender. I think I\u2019m hoping that the viewers come away from the season saying, Can you surrender even when you don\u2019t always understand people?\u201d<\/p>\n Jenkins also revealed that, following the partial release of the sixth installment on Prime Video, the season will conclude with a feature-length finale. <\/p>\n \u201cThe finale of Season 6 is essentially a supersized episode that is going to be released as the theatrical global event all over the world,\u201d Jenkins said.<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cSeason 6 is the biggest season we\u2019ve ever done, without a close second, it\u2019s taking the longest to film, by far. The visual effects, the translations, especially, take at least two to three times longer than any season we\u2019ve ever done.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe whole season is supersized. And so it just can take time. … I just ask for your continued grace and patience.
