Paul Simon<\/a>\u00a0played\u00a0\u2018Something So Right\u2019 on\u00a0The Late Show\u00a0With\u00a0Stephen Colbert\u00a0this week\u00a0\u2013 check out\u00a0footage\u00a0below.<\/p>\n

The legendary singer-songwriter dropped by the talk show on Thursday night (April 2) and dusted off the song \u2013 which was first released on his third solo album \u2018There Goes\u00a0Rhymin\u2019 Simon\u2019 in 1973 \u2013 for its first live performance since 1993.<\/p>\n

Perched on a stool, Simon sang the song\u00a0backed by\u00a0an arrangement\u00a0including\u00a0acoustic guitar,\u00a0strings, flute,\u00a0bass\u00a0and percussion. He later joined Colbert for a reflection on his early career in England\u00a0prior to\u00a0Simon & Garfunkel<\/a>\u2019s success with \u2018The Sound\u00a0Of\u00a0Silence\u2019 in 1965.<\/p>\n

Later this week,\u00a0Simon will kick off the UK and European leg of his \u2018A Quiet Celebration\u2019 tour<\/a>\u00a0which launched in the US last summer \u2013\u00a0his live comeback after seven years of retirement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The dates begin in Prague on Thursday (April 9) and will include shows in Liverpool and Glasgow before a pair of gigs\u00a0in\u00a0London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall in May and a final date in Dublin.\u00a0See\u00a0all of\u00a0the dates\u00a0here<\/a>\u00a0and find any remaining tickets\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over the summer, the songwriting icon was\u00a0forced to postpone two of his aforementioned US dates after experiencing \u201cchronic and intense back pain\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cToday it became unmanageable and demands immediate attention,\u201d his statement at the time read. \u201cUnfortunately, we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don\u2019t have the ability to reschedule them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, we are hopeful after this minor surgical procedure which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back in 2018,\u00a0Simon played in New York\u2019s Flushing Meadows Corona Park in what was described as his final-ever concert<\/a>\u00a0at the time. \u201cI\u2019ve often wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I\u2019d consider bringing my performing career to a natural end,\u201d he said back then. \u201cNow I\u00a0know:\u00a0it feels a little unsettling, a touch exhilarating and something of a relief.\u201d<\/p>\n
