\n\tAs the Season 3 finale of Shrinking<\/a> approaches, Bill Lawrence<\/a> is giving fans closure on one story and preparing to move on to the next.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Apple TV+<\/a> series co-creator teased ahead of the finale, which debuts Wednesday on the streaming platform, that Season 4 of the comedy-drama will feature \u201ca new story with the same cast.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSeason finale and end of this three season story next week. Hope you dig it. (Excited to start completely new story next year. Feels scary\/risky\/fun),\u201d he wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cThanks for watching.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLawrence clarified for a fan in another post<\/a>, \u201cWe always pitched a three season story on #Shrinking grief-forgiveness-moving forward. We wanted to stay true to that and end the way we planned.\u00a0(So excited to do Season 4 and a new story with the same cast.)\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the show\u2019s current iteration, Shrinking stars Jason Segel as therapist Jimmy Laird, who struggles to repair his relationship with his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell) while trying cope with the death of his wife, with help from his own therapist and mentor Dr. Paul Rhoades (Harrison Ford).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series also stars Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Christa Miller and Ted McGinley, with Season 3 featuring guest appearances from Michael J. Fox, Jeff Daniels, Sherry Cola, Lisa Gilroy and more.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter Apple gave Shrinking an early Season 4 renewal<\/a> in January, Lawrence explained to Deadline why it\u2019s time to move on<\/a> from the current arc, much like he\u2019s doing with the upcoming fourth season of Apple\u2019s Ted Lasso.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe same way that Shrinking, if the fourth season started and Jason Segel woke up and went, \u2018you know I\u2019ve been thinking about it, and I was still super sad about my wife,\u2019 everybody would be like, What are you doing? We saw that already,\u201d explained Lawrence. \u201cBut as a writer, he told 36 stories with these actors and actresses. We have a new story to tell, and that\u2019ll either be, two- or three-season story or it won\u2019t.
