Records state the bride was given a diamond cross by an \u2018F.Lyons\u2019, which likely references Claude&#8217;s younger brother, the Hon. Francis Bowes-Lyon. The stones in the brooch were wrongly identified as yellow diamonds; in reality they are topazes.<\/p>\n<p>On her death in 1938, the piece was passed down to Queen Elizabeth (later styled the Queen Mother). It is believed that neither the Queen Mother nor her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, wore the piece in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatler.com\/topic\/public\" isautogenerated=\"true\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">public<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, it has become something of a favourite of Queen Camilla, who has worn the brooch on a number of occasions in recent years. She was first spotted in the jewel on Christmas Day in 2023 and has since worn it for a variety of engagements including to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatler.com\/topic\/royal-ascot\" isautogenerated=\"true\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Royal Ascot<\/a> and for her visit to the Vatican in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatler.com\/topic\/2025\" isautogenerated=\"true\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Image may contain Person Pope and Adult\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ResponsiveImageContainer-dkeESL cQPiWi responsive-image__image\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/2242408293.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Queen Camilla also wore the brooch to meet Pope Leo in November 2025<\/p>\n<p>Handout\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Queen Camilla was not the only member of the royal family to wear heirloom jewels on Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>When it came to her accessories, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatler.com\/topic\/the-princess-of-wales\" isautogenerated=\"true\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Princess of Wales<\/a> opted for a favourite pair of earrings from the royal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatler.com\/topic\/jewellery\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">jewellery<\/a> box: the Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings, which previously belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. They hold an extra poignant connection for Catherine as they are the jewels she chose to wear for Her Majesty&#8217;s funeral in 2022. The sparkling jewels proved the perfect finishing touch to her embroidered, off-white Self-Portrait dress and matching Juliette Botterill Millinery hat.<\/p>\n<p>The Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings were created by the then Princess Elizabeth from a cache of seven pearls, which she received as a wedding present in 1947 from the Hakim of Bahrain.
