This may be unpleasant news for some, but living in this country, our families and society must know what is happening,\u201d he said in a speech after meeting Felda settlers at a carnival at Felda Semenchu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Datuk Seri Anwar also slammed those who criticised the government for extending assistance to people in Gaza. He said that although the country is not rich and has its own difficulties, it must show concern.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cPeople in Gaza are being killed every day, and many are starving. Don\u2019t follow the attitude of some who question why we help people in Gaza when those in our own backyard are also facing difficulties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cIf you don\u2019t want to help, it\u2019s okay, but don\u2019t make a fuss when others extend assistance,\u201d he said, adding that Malaysia had sent 30 large containers to Egypt to be channelled to Gaza.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The Prime Minister said that while he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/asia\/se-asia\/malaysians-quietly-stockpile-staples-as-energy-crisis-fueled-by-iran-war-tests-anwar?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\">acknowledged public concerns over the rising cost of living<\/a>, including petrol prices, the country was still doing significantly better than others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">He noted that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/asia\/se-asia\/malaysia-slashes-subsidised-ron95-quota-by-a-third-to-200-litres-until-oil-supply-recovers?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\">RON95 petrol in Malaysia is among the cheapest in the world<\/a>, whereas a neighbouring country had shut down 400 petrol stations while another had to ration fuel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cI am not denying the burden faced by the people and the rising cost of living, but we also need to understand the reality of the ongoing conflict,\u201d he said, adding that the government was now spending RM6 billion (S$1.9 billion) a month on petrol subsidies.
