\n\tLucy Liu<\/a> is set to lead the upcoming Peacock<\/a> crime drama \u201cSuperfakes<\/a>,\u201d Variety has learned. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe show was originally announced back in January<\/a> with a series order. The logline states, \u201cA small-time Chinatown luxury counterfeit dealer (Liu) enters a dangerous black-market underworld in order to fund a life of suburban respectability for her family.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLiu will also executive produce in addition to starring. <\/p>\n

\n\tLiu is best known for her film work, which includes starring in features such as \u201cKill Bill,\u201d two \u201cCharlie\u2019s Angels\u201d films, \u201cChicago,\u201d \u201cSet It Up,\u201d Presence\u201d and \u201cRed One.\u201d Her TV roles include \u201cAlly McBeal\u201d at Fox, \u201cElementary\u201d at CBS (which aired for seven seasons), and \u201cWhy Women Kill\u201d at Paramount+ (n\u00e9e CBS All Access). She will next be seen in the indie feature \u201cRosemead,\u201d which she produced and stars in, due out in theaters this December. Liu has also been active as a director in recent years, helming multiple episodes of \u201cElementary\u201d as well as episodes of shows like \u201cWhy Women Kill,\u201d \u201cAmerican Born Chinese,\u201d and \u201cNew Amsterdam.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tShe is repped by Framework, CAA and Schreck Rose. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe series hails from creator Alice Ju, who will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. In addition, Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie will serve as executive producers along with Howard Klein and Olivia Gerke of 3 Arts. Ronald Bronstein and Eli Bush also executive produce, along with Liu. A24 and UCP will produce.<\/p>\n

\n\tJu previously won an Emmy as part of the producing team behind the hit Netflix series \u201cBeef,\u201d on which she was a writer and co-executive producer.
