Several Palestinians were injured in an attack by settler extremists in the West Bank village of Luban al-Sharqiya, south of Nablus, with two being evacuated to the hospital for medical treatment, Palestinian media reported Monday.<\/p>\n

According to the reports, settlers set fire to two tents used for housing and three vehicles in the village.<\/p>\n

Pictures taken from the scene showed the Hebrew phrases \u201cZionists revenge\u201d and \u201cprice tag\u201d were spray-painted in black on some of the property.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrice tag\u201d is a term used to describe acts of vandalism and violence associated with the settler movement in retaliation for Palestinian attacks and to protest what they perceive as the Israeli government\u2019s pro-Palestinian policies.\u00a0Mosques, churches, dovish Israeli groups and even Israeli military bases have been targeted in such assaults.<\/p>\n

The West Bank has recently seen a wave of rising extremist settler violence<\/a> against Palestinians. Violent attacks by radical elements against Palestinians and civil rights activists seeking to protect them have become a daily occurrence in the West Bank.<\/p>\n

There were no reports of injuries from the arson itself or of any arrests.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, police arrested eight people suspected of partaking in a settler rampage through a Palestinian village in the northern West Bank the day before.\n<\/p>\n

The suspects, whose ages range from 13 to 48, were accused of setting fire to Palestinian residents\u2019 homes and two chicken coops in Qusra, and badly injuring a 32-year-old man employed in the village.<\/p>\n

He was left with a serious head injury and was taken to the hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n

The suspects were arrested near the site of the attack, police said, as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident. Police also seized an army-grade M16 assault rifle from one of the suspects.<\/p>\n

Last month, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir issued a sharp condemnation of settler violence, calling attacks against Palestinian civilians and soldiers in the West Bank \u201cmorally and ethically unacceptable\u201d and a major strategic impediment.<\/p>\n
