\n\tARMY may have thought they knew every piece of BTS<\/a> trivia, but SUGA just dropped a tidbit that\u2019s so obscure, even his bandmates had no idea.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the latest installment of Wired\u2018s search-engine autocomplete series, the members of the septet answered questions both about the band as a whole and themselves as individuals. When it was SUGA\u2019s turn, the singer born Min Yoon-gi found himself in the middle of an opportunity to finally tell the real story of how he got his stage name.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2018SUGA name meaning,’\u201d he said, reading one of the prompts on his cue card. \u201cI can finally explain this now.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe performer then went on to explain that his pseudonym is borrowed from UFC fighter Sean O\u2019Malley, whose nickname was Suga, sans the letter \u201cR.\u201d O\u2019Malley\u2019s nickname calls back to another professional fighter, with SUGA telling his bandmates, \u201cThere\u2019s a legendary boxer named Sugar Ray Leonard. So people who have technical striking skills, the specialists, are called Suga.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also recalled how Bang Si-Hyuk \u2014 the founder of BTS\u2019 label, HYBE, and apparently a huge boxing fan \u2014 suggested to him years ago, \u201cSince you\u2019re technical with your rap, you should be Suga.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBut because that long story had always been \u201ctoo annoying to explain,\u201d SUGA said that he decided to tell people his name was simply a condensed version of \u201cshooting guard,\u201d a position in basketball. \u201cThis is my first time hearing this,\u201d j-hope said after SUGA was finished as the other members nodded with collective surprise.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Q&A comes as BTS is in the midst of a major comeback launched by the release of ARIRANG \u2014 the group\u2019s first full-length in six years \u2014 in March. The project is currently spending its second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200<\/a> dated April 11, and in just a few days, the band will embark on an enormous stadium world tour. <\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere in the Wired video, the Bangtan Boys discussed reuniting after being discharged from the South Korean military, shared their favorite ARMY memes and reflected on the meaning of ARIRANG\u2018s title. In one particularly hilarious moment, RM answered a prompt about whether he feels \u201cregret\u201d for teaching his bandmates English.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNo. But they just don\u2019t understand [English],\u201d he said with defeat as the others, all of whom pretty much strictly spoke Korean throughout the video, burst out laughing. \u201cI showed a lot of willpower. There\u2019s nothing to regret. I feel like I just never taught them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEven if you teach us, what do we know?\u201d j-hope said, while Jin added, \u201cThe teacher is good, but the students aren\u2019t that great.\u201d<\/p>\n
