Global warm-up webinar for World Hand Hygiene Day, 5 May 2026<\/p>\n

Each year WHO\u2019s World Hand Hygiene Day (WHHD) aims to\u00a0maintain\u00a0a global profile on the importance of hand hygiene\u00a0and IPC\u00a0in health care and to \u2018bring people together\u2019 in support of improvement globally.\u00a0\u202fIn this 18th\u202fyear\u202fof the campaign day,\u00a0WHO\u00a0calls\u00a0on\u202fall\u00a0those providing\u202fand supporting\u202fhealth care\u202fto\u202frefresh their\u202fplans and\u00a0actions\u202fon hand hygiene and IPC\u202fto\u202fensure patient and health worker safety.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

To\u00a0outline\u00a0the importance of promoting\u00a0inclusion of hand hygiene\u202fwithin action plans\u00a0and\u00a0standard operating procedures (SOPs),\u00a0according to the recommendations of the WHO Global action plan and monitoring framework indicators and targets to be achieved incrementally by 2030.\u00a0This includes an advocacy and communications strategy and implementation plan, supported by WHHD activities.\u00a0To highlight\u00a0the role of experts\/champions\u00a0in supporting hand hygiene and IPC promotion.\u00a0To\u00a0promote\u00a0one of the WHO\u00a0indicators\u202fwhich\u00a0is\u00a0–\u00a0hand hygiene compliance monitoring and feedback,\u202fto be\u202festablished\u202fas a key national indicator, at the very least in all reference hospitals by 2026\u00a0and tools that might support this.\u00a0To explore the\u00a0actions and resources linked with World Hand Hygiene Day\u00a02026\u00a0to help\u00a0plan your approach.\u00a0<\/p>\n
