Late-night hosts reacted to Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s expletive-laden social media posts<\/a> about the war in Iran<\/a> and mocked his tonally jarring White House Easter egg roll<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel<\/p>\n

Much has happened since Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> Live! went on a one-week spring break. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to believe it was only a week off,\u201d the host said on Monday evening. \u201cIt seems like we\u2019ve been gone for a year. So much stuff happened while we were off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the many things for Kimmel to recap was a rumor that Trump spent the weekend in a hospital. \u201cYou know, there\u2019s a rumor<\/a> going around over the weekend that Trump had been hospitalized at Walter Reed because he didn\u2019t appear in public from Wednesday to Sunday,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe White House was aggressively defensive. They wrote, \u2018Deranged liberals cook up insane conspiracy theories when @Potus goes 12 hours without speaking to press,\u2019\u201d he continued. \u201cMaybe that\u2019s because our deranged president never goes more than 12 minutes without speaking to press.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut to be clear, Trump was not hospitalized this weekend, even though he definitely should have been. He made it up. He made up for today with a lengthy press conference\/proof of life.\u201d<\/p>\n

That would be a headline-grabbing<\/a>, expletive-laden social media tirade about Iran. The US president posted<\/a> on his Truth Social website: \u201cTuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin\u2019 Strait, you crazy bastards, or you\u2019ll be living in Hell \u2013 JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that\u2019s a letter from Paul to the Corinthians,\u201d Kimmel quipped. \u201cWe\u2019ve heard the word unhinged a lot this weekend but \u2026 let me set the scene. You\u2019re finishing your Easter brunch, cleaning up, the kids are running out to the yard to find jelly beans, and suddenly your 79-year-old grandpa stands up and yells: \u2018Open the fuckin\u2019 strait, you crazy bastards, or you\u2019ll be living in hell! Praise be to Allah!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019d put him in the car and drive him straight to the emergency room, right?\u201d Kimmel added. \u201cBut not the Trumps.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian then read Trump\u2019s follow-up post, which said simply: \u201cTuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s the only president who teases a bombing the same way ABC promotes new episodes of Will Trent,\u201d Kimmel quipped.<\/p>\n

Except today, \u201che changed that deadline\u201d, the host added. \u201cHe said Iran<\/a> could be taken out by midnight tomorrow, but he didn\u2019t specify if that\u2019s our tomorrow or their tomorrow. He could start a world war three over a time zone error. Things are running like a Swiss watch, folks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert<\/p>\n

And on The Late Show, Stephen Colbert<\/a> wished viewers a wonderful holiday weekend, \u201cwhether you celebrated Passover or Easter or, like our president, went 100% cage-free crazy on the internet\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, it is not often that a network has to bleep the words of a sitting president,\u201d Colbert added on Trump\u2019s curse-laden Truth Social post.<\/p>\n

As for his follow-up post teasing something at 8pm on Tuesday \u2013 \u201che could be announcing a military attack in prime time tomorrow,\u201d Colbert noted. \u201cHe also might just be promoting NCIS: 23 Seasons of Solving Boat Crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKeep in mind: this promise of raining hell if Iran doesn\u2019t open up the strait is the exact opposite of what Trump was saying last week, when he said the strait is a problem that\u2019s \u2018not for us\u2019,\u201d the host continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut now, he\u2019s back in with a hard deadline of tomorrow night. And this one is serious. Not like on March 21, when Trump said<\/a> he would \u2018hit and obliterate\u2019 power plants if Iran didn\u2019t reopen the strait within 48 hours. Or two days after that, when he postponed strikes for five more days. Or four days later, when he postponed attacks for 10 days, which would\u2019ve made the deadline today, April 6, except yesterday he said it\u2019ll be tomorrow.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this point, he\u2019s tried every tactic except passive-aggressive parental guilt trip \u2013 \u2018Well, I guess you won\u2019t open the strait of Hormuz before I die, but \u2026 that\u2019s fine! I mean, who needs oil when I\u2019m clearly never going to have grandchildren.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The host then pivoted to a very strange edition of the White House\u2019s annual Easter egg roll, during which Trump gave ominous and threatening comments<\/a> about Iran to reporters while being nearly drowned out by celebratory band music. Trump said: \u201cThey don\u2019t want to cry, as the expression goes, uncle. But they will. And if they don\u2019t, then they\u2019ll have no bridges, they\u2019ll have no power plants, they\u2019ll have no anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI really got a feel for that peppy Easter band,\u201d Colbert said.
