iOS 27 is the next major iPhone software version, here\u2019s when to expect its release\u2014including dates for the first betas and the public launch.<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s iOS 26 software cycle isn\u2019t over yet, with iOS 26.5 currently<\/a> in testing. But it is winding down soon.<\/p>\n iOS 27 will be the next major software release for iPhone. And its full unveiling is only two months away<\/a>.<\/p>\n Apple will debut iOS 27 on Monday, June 8 during the kickoff of WWDC 2026.<\/p>\n And based on historic patterns, it\u2019s expected that the first iOS 27 developer beta will ship that same day.<\/p>\n The first iOS 27 developer beta likely won\u2019t include all of the features that eventually ship when the public release date arrives. However, it will offer the vast majority of them.<\/p>\n Apple typically follows up with a more stable public beta of its new iOS version in July. So if you don\u2019t want to risk trying the developer version of iOS 27, the public beta shouldn\u2019t require too long of a wait.<\/p>\n iOS 27\u2019s public launch will arrive in September, with mid-month release date likely<\/p>\n Following a summer of beta testing, Apple always ships its major new iOS releases in September.<\/p>\n Thus, iOS 27\u2019s release date is expected for September, likely mid-month.<\/p>\n Here are dates for Apple\u2019s last few years of iOS releases:<\/p>\n iOS 26: Monday, September 15<\/p>\n iOS 18: Monday, September 16<\/p>\n iOS 17: Monday, September 18<\/p>\n iOS 16: Monday, September 12<\/p>\n Based on this pattern, it\u2019s expected that iOS 27 will launch on or around Monday, September 14.<\/p>\n The official date is often revealed at Apple\u2019s annual iPhone event, which usually happens the week prior.<\/p>\n Rumors so far point to iOS 27 being heavy on Siri and Apple Intelligence upgrades<\/a>, plus smaller design updates<\/a> and more.<\/p>\n Currently, there are no rumors about device compatibility.
