As such, sourcing Miranda\u2019s designer wardrobe for the flick proved challenging, as Streep told Gerwig: \u201cEverybody was afraid of Anna on the first one, so we couldn\u2019t find any clothes. Nobody would give us any clothes.\u201d<\/p>\n
But Wintour gamely attended the movie\u2019s premiere \u2014\u00a0in Prada \u2014\u00a0and told Gerwig, \u201cIt\u2019s such an honor to be played by Meryl, however distant Miranda is from myself. Who wouldn\u2019t think that that wasn\u2019t the most extraordinary gift?\u201d<\/p>\n
Still, the media exec admitted to being nervous about the upcoming sequel.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I heard rumors that this new film might be happening, I called Meryl to ask if it was true. I knew she would tell me if it was going to be all right,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe hadn\u2019t yet read the script, so she said she\u2019d call me back. And that\u2019s what she did. She read the script. She called me back and said, \u2018Anna, I think it\u2019s going to be all right.\u2019 She told me very little about what happens in the film, but I trusted her implicitly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Streep told Vogue she\u2019d never want to run a fashion magazine, quipping that she\u2019d \u201cdread the shoes\u201d the job required. 20th Century Studios<\/p>\n

That said, Streep and Wintour are in no rush to swap jobs in real life.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no way. I have no gifts. I have absolutely no gifts at all. I can\u2019t sing, I can\u2019t dance, I can\u2019t act, I\u2019m useless with my hands, I can\u2019t cook, I certainly can\u2019t sew,\u201d the Vogue editrix replied when asked whether she\u2019d ever consider an acting career.<\/p>\n
Streep, meanwhile, balked at the idea of running a \u201cmultinational corporation\u201d like Vogue \u2014\u00a0not to mention wearing the required wardrobe.<\/p>\n
