\n\t\u201cWhen Darkness Loves Us<\/a>,\u201d a horror film starring \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d actor Emilia Clarke<\/a>, has landed at Bleecker Street. It will be released in theaters at some point in 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tJames Ashcroft wrote and directed the film, which was adapted from Elizabeth Engstrom\u2019s 1980s novella of the same name. The story follows a young woman (Clarke) who, after surviving 15 years trapped in an underground cave system, returns to the surface to reclaim the family she believes is hers, \u201cno matter the monstrous cost,\u201d per the logline.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe term \u2018world-building\u2019 is wildly overused, but the degree to which James and team have built a subterranean universe cannot be understated,\u201d Bleecker CEO Kent Sanderson said in a statement. \u201cThis film is a true journey into the darkness, literally and figuratively, and we\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0wait to shock audiences worldwide with James\u2019 singular vision.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMarlon Williams (\u201cSweet Tooth\u201d), Victoria Pedretti (\u201cYou\u201d) and Natascha McElhone (\u201cThe Truman Show\u201d) co-star in \u201cWhen Darkness Loves Us,\u201d which just wrapped filming in New Zealand. Ashcroft co-wrote the script with Hayley Sproull and Eli Kent.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy passion for Elizabeth Engstrom\u2019s story remains boundless; what an absolute gift it has been bringing this work to the screen,\u201d said Ashcroft, whose credits include \u201cThe Rule of Jenny Pen\u201d\u00a0and Netflix\u2019s upcoming thriller\u00a0\u201cThe Whisper Man.\u201d \u201cWith\u00a0\u2018When Darkness Loves Us,\u2019\u00a0Liz\u00a0never lets us forget that the actions of her characters are by turns both tragic and monstrous \u2013 no matter how sympathetic they may be. But\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0their indelible humanity that\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0be so easily shaken off afterwards, and\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0when we find ourselves at home in the darkness with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBleecker\u2019s deal encompasses all global territories, excluding New Zealand and Australia. The pact was negotiated by Miranda King and Avy\u00a0Eschenasy\u00a0for Bleecker Street and CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers.<\/p>\n
