Valerie Perrine\u2019s cause of death was listed as acute cardiopulmonary arrest with the underlying cause of Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/a>, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Also known as sudden cardiac arrest, the condition was confirmed on her death certificate, which was obtained by People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dementia was also a contributing factor in the “Superman” actress\u2019 death<\/a>, according to the Los Angeles Department of Health, People reported.<\/p>\n

Perrine, who died on March 23 at 82, was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s in 2015.<\/p>\n

“It is with deep sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that Valerie has passed away,” her longtime friend, Stacey Souther, shared on\u00a0social media<\/a> at the time.<\/p>\n

“She faced Parkinson\u2019s disease with incredible courage and compassion, never once complaining. She was a true inspiration who lived life to the fullest \u2014 and what a magnificent life it was.”<\/p>\n

Souther added, “The world feels less beautiful without her in it. I love you, Valerie. I\u2019ll see you on the other side.”<\/p>\n

The actress had an Oscar nomination for best actress for Bob Fosse’s “Lenny” and also played Eve in the first two “Superman” movies. (Anne Cusack\/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)<\/p>\n

Perrine was known for her roles in 1974\u2019s “Lenny,” a biopic about Lenny Bruce, for which she received an Academy Award nomination, and 1978\u2019s “Superman,” in which she played Lex Luthor\u2019s girlfriend.<\/p>\n

After playing the same role in 1980\u2019s “Superman II,” she turned to TV opposite Harvey Korman<\/a> in “Leo & Liz in Beverly Hills.”<\/p>\n

She later did two episodes of “ER” and three episodes of “Nash Bridges,” had an eight-episode arc on “As the World Turns” and had a role in 2000\u2019s “What Women Want,” among dozens of other parts.<\/p>\n
