Roger Waters<\/a> is on the lookout for a new singer to front his son\u2019s Pink Floyd<\/a> tribute group \u2013 after firing him from his touring solo band.<\/p>\n

Harry Waters previously played keyboards for his father on the road for 14 years. However, Harry revealed in 2023 that Roger had let him know that his services would no longer be required<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was fired, it was pretty miserable,\u201d he said at the time, adding that his dad \u201cwanted a change of blood, something new, something fresh\u201d.<\/p>\n

The younger Waters went on to join tribute act Brit Floyd, alongside one of Pink Floyd\u2019s former background singers, Durga McBroom, and their ex-saxophonist, Scott Page.<\/p>\n

Now, Roger has put out an \u201copen invitation\u201d for a singer to join a brand-new tour scheduled for next year, \u2018Roger Waters Presents LEGACY \u2013 A Pink Floyd Show Performed By The Harry Waters Band\u2019.<\/p>\n

The announcement for the upcoming dates is accompanied by the tagline: \u201cThe father\u2019s legacy, the son\u2019s band.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement, Roger wrote: \u201cMy son Harry Waters has put a great band and show together to go on the road next year to pay tribute to the music from the golden era of Pink Floyd, and maybe a couple of songs from my subsequent solo career.<\/p>\n

\u201cHarry\u2019s band is missing one thing: The voice I had when I was young.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cBack in the day, I could sing everything from the soft urgency of \u2018Hello, is there anybody in there?\u2019 from \u2018Comfortably Numb\u2019, to the high-pitched scream of \u2018You know how I need you to beat to a pulp on a Saturday night\u2019 from \u2018Don\u2019t Leave Me Now\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you do that? Are you that missing voice? If you are, this is your chance. This is an open invitation to audition for Harry\u2019s band. I\u2019m serious.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a video message, the former Pink Floyd bassist and vocalist said: \u201cHarry has a great band put together for next year, but there\u2019s one missing link: somebody who can sing everything that I could sing 50 years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those who wish to apply for the role can do so here<\/a> before April 30. \u201cPlease be sure to submit a Pink Floyd song, with Roger on lead,\u201d the online form reads.<\/p>\n

It also sets out the \u201ctentative tour plans\u201d, stating that it will kick off next February and run for 20 weeks. The dates are set to take place for five weeks at a time, with breaks in between. Find more information here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When confirming that he\u2019d been fired by his father in 2023, Harry explained: \u201cI\u2019m not sure of his exact reasoning, but everyone except two people got fired. But the other guys that got the sack weren\u2019t his son, so it was doubly hurtful for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about joining Brit Floyd, he said: \u201cI\u2019ve never met any of them, but I\u2019ll just turn up and play. I\u2019ve been playing this music for 30 years or so. I think we\u2019ll be OK without rehearsal. I think we all know the material pretty well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Pink Floyd have announced a new compilation album titled \u20188-Tracks\u2019<\/a>, celebrating the band\u2019s 1971-1979 era.<\/p>\n

Last autumn,\u00a0David Gilmour said there was \u201cno possible way\u201d that he would ever work with his former bandmate Waters again<\/a>. The start of this year saw Waters double down on his insensitive comments about Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>, asking: \u201cDo I have to like every rock group that ever was or people who bite the heads off bats?\u201d<\/p>\n

Gilmour celebrated Pink Floyd\u2019s \u2018Wish You Were Here\u2019 landing the Christmas Number One album spot<\/a> last December.<\/p>\n

It marked the group\u2019s second UK Number One record of 2025, following on from \u2018Pink Floyd At Pompeii \u2013 MCMLXXII\u2019<\/a>. The live album of a 1971 show was first released as a concert film in 1972, and re-released with newly mixed audio in 2025.\u00a0A 4K version of the movie arrived<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n
