While Peter Parker is the origin, the legacy of Spider-Man has been significantly enriched by a diverse lineage of successors who have carved out their own unique spaces. Miles Morales revolutionized the mantle for a new generation with a fresh cultural perspective and unique abilities like bio-electricity. Before Miles, the controversial Clone Saga<\/a> introduced Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, who explored the darker and more existential corners of Peter\u2019s identity.<\/p>\n

Spider-Gwen. In other corners of the Spider-Verse, unlikely candidates like Flash Thompson and Betty Brant have donned the mask. Even Norman Osborn has appeared as a Spider-hero from the start in certain timelines.<\/p>\n

Miguel O\u2019Hara a.k.a. 2099 fights crime in a high-tech cyberpunk future with talons and accelerated vision. Then there are the more avant-garde protectors like Peni Parker, who pilots the psychically-linked SP\/\/dr mech, and Spider-Ham, whose cartoonish physics allow him to survive extreme threats. On Earth-616, the mantle has occasionally been seized by villains like Doctor Octopus, who attempted to prove he could be a superior Spider-Man, as well as prime-continuity Norman Osborn<\/a>, who tried to redeem himself by replacing Spidey. The Spider-Man mark represent a coveted privilege and a heavy burden.<\/p>\n
