{"id":389355,"date":"2026-04-13T05:59:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T05:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/389355\/"},"modified":"2026-04-13T05:59:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T05:59:07","slug":"mk-rothmans-jab-maybe-theres-something-to-learn-from-hungary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/389355\/","title":{"rendered":"MK Rothman\u2019s jab: Maybe there&#8217;s something to learn from Hungary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" album=\"true\" data-v-fb708951=\"\" data-v-71e662ef-s=\"\">The chairman of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee MK Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionist Party) responded on Sunday evening to <a class=\"\" album=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.israelnationalnews.com\/news\/425380\" target=\"_blank\" data-v-fb708951=\"\" data-v-71e662ef-s=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the results<\/a> of the elections in Hungary, which indicate a change of government and a defeat for Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" album=\"true\" data-v-fb708951=\"\" data-v-71e662ef-s=\"\">Rothman seized the opportunity to attack the protesters against the judicial reform and senior figures in Israel&#8217;s judicial system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" album=\"true\" data-v-fb708951=\"\" data-v-71e662ef-s=\"\">&#8220;A bunch of lunatics have been shouting in the streets here for a year that the judicial reform would destroy democracy in Israel and that we would soon become Hungary,&#8221; Rothman wrote. &#8220;And today we discovered that in Hungary it is possible to replace the &#8216;dictator&#8217; through democratic elections. He even called to congratulate the winner.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" album=\"true\" data-v-fb708951=\"\" data-v-71e662ef-s=\"\">Rothman then directed his criticism squarely at the Attorney General and the President of the Supreme Court. &#8220;It is encouraging to think that one day our dictators here &#8211; Yitzhak Amit and Gali Baharav-Miara &#8211; will also accept the election results. You see? Maybe there really is something to learn from Hungary after all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" album=\"true\" data-v-fb708951=\"\" data-v-71e662ef-s=\"\">Rothman&#8217;s remarks come against the backdrop of the ongoing tension between the coalition and the judicial establishment.
