{"id":390729,"date":"2026-04-14T01:26:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T01:26:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/390729\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T01:26:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T01:26:15","slug":"escape-from-new-york-howling-remakes-set","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/390729\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Escape from New York,&#8221; &#8220;Howling&#8221; Remakes Set"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/escape-from-new-york-howling-remakes-set.jpg\" data-caption=\"AVCO Embassy Pictures\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/escape-from-new-york-howling-remakes-set.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"escape-from-new-york-howling-remakes-set\"\/><\/a>AVCO Embassy Pictures<\/p>\n<p>StudioCanal has announced that a reboot of John Carpenter\u2019s iconic 1981 dystopian feature \u201cEscape From New York\u201d is in development.<\/p>\n<p>The company revealed the news at the annual trade convention CinemaCon which kicked off today in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>The original film\u2019s story is set in a future where the U.S. had become a totalitarian theocratic police state, and the island of Manhattan is now a walled-off maximum security prison.<\/p>\n<p>Imprisoned former Special Forces officer Robert \u2018Snake\u2019 Plissken (Kurt Russell) has twenty-four hours to go in, rescue the U.S. President who is being held by the city prison\u2019s most dangerous crook, and get out again.<\/p>\n<p>No further information was revealed about the project.  Numerous attempts to remake the property have taken place over the years with the likes of Radio Silence, Leigh Whannell, Robert Rodriguez, and \u201cLuther\u201d creator Neil Cross all involved at differnt points. <\/p>\n<p>An animated prequel was also in the works at one time but never eventuated.  StudioCanal also confirmed that a remake of 1981 horror film \u201cThe Howling\u201d is also in the works.
