Knicks<\/a>\u2018 Jose\u200b\u200d\u200b\u200c\u200d\u200b\u200d\u200c\u200b\u200d\u200b\u200c\u200d\u200b\u200d\u200c Alvarado is usually not the tallest player in the game, but he always stands his ground no matter who it is \u2013 even if it\u2019s a seven-footer.<\/p>\n The guard shared the details of his crazy fight on the court with Phoenix Suns<\/a> center Mark Williams<\/a>. It was a very entertaining story that got even better once Shaquille O\u2019Neal was mentioned.<\/p>\n The fight broke out during a Pelicans-Suns game in December 2025, with 2:06 left in the third quarter. Williams set a screen on Alvarado, who was called for a foul. Williams then shoved Alvarado from behind, and things escalated fast. Both players threw punches before teammates and officials stepped in. Both were ejected, and the NBA<\/a> later handed Alvarado a two-game suspension while Williams received one game.<\/p>\n Alvarado laid out exactly how it went down in his own words:<\/p>\n \u201cOnce he pushed me in the back, I was like, oh, I was on tap\u2026 They called a foul on me. I\u2019m like, yo, what? Everybody thinking it\u2019s a little tap push. They strong, bro. So I turned around and I said, yo, don\u2019t do that. As I\u2019m walking towards him, people don\u2019t understand \u2014 he is seven foot and weighs more than me. He\u2019s overlapping me. So I got to swing him around. Once I saw my headband to the side, my hair go a little place \u2014 nah. I saw a punch. I saw opportunity. And I\u2019m like, I got to do this, bro.\u201d<\/p>\n The way @SHAQ<\/a> told Jose his fine would be chump change after fighting Mark Williams is pure comedy \ud83e\udd23<\/p>\n \u201cHe said, \u2018That\u2019s how you do it young fella\u2019 \u2026 I was like, \u2018Shaq it\u2019s a different payroll over here.’\u201d <\/p>\n Shaq Called, But Alvarado Wasn\u2019t Laughing at the Fine<\/p>\n The suspension cost Alvarado real money, and he did not take it lightly. He had even been fined previously for a similar incident with another big man, so he knew the consequences:<\/p>\n \u201cI got fined for doing the same thing to another big fella. Three games. So I\u2019m like, yo, I\u2019m done \u2014 I\u2019m going to get my money worth. Little do you know, my check didn\u2019t move for like three months. I told my family, yo, we got to save, bro. We\u2019re going to be down three months.\u201d<\/p>\n Then came the unexpected call. Shaq rang him up with nothing but hype \u2014 until Alvarado brought him back to reality:<\/p>\n \u201cShout out to Shaq, he\u2019s funny. He called me right away. He said, \u2018That\u2019s how you do it, young fella.\u2019 I\u2019m like, how much you think you\u2019re going to run me, Shaq? He\u2019s like, \u2018Don\u2019t worry about that, that\u2019s chump change.\u2019 And I was like, Shaq, there\u2019s a different payroll model out here, boy.\u201d<\/p>\n It was classic Alvarado, never backing down, even from Shaq.<\/p>\n Jose Alvarado Is Exactly What the Knicks Needed<\/p>\n Alvarado started the 2025-26 season with the New Orleans Pelicans<\/a>, where he built his reputation as one of the NBA\u2019s most disruptive defenders and high-energy guards off the bench.<\/p>\n In February, the Knicks acquired him mid-season, adding some much-needed grit to their roster.
