Kanye West<\/a> has postponed his scheduled show in France indefinitely, saying it was his \u201csole decision\u201d to do so.<\/p>\n

The rapper had been set to perform at the Marseille Velodrome on June 11 as part of his 2026 world tour<\/a>, in support of his new album \u2018Bully\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Taking to X\/Twitter this morning (Wednesday April 15), however, West confirmed that the concert would not be taking place as planned.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Yesterday (Tuesday April 14), the French authorities confirmed that they were exploring possible options to ban West from entering the country owing to his antisemitic past (via Far Out<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The news comes after the controversial artist\u2019s three bill-topping dates at London\u2019s Wireless Festival were cancelled<\/a>, in the wake of him being blocked from entering the UK by the government.<\/p>\n

The booking had sparked significant backlash, including from Prime Minister Keir Starmer<\/a>, who said it was \u201cdeeply concerning that Kanye West has been booked to perform at Wireless despite his previous antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a follow-up tweet today, Ye wrote:\u00a0\u201cI know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends. I take full responsibility for what\u2019s mine but I don\u2019t want to put my fans in the middle of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy fans are everything to me. Looking forward to the next shows. See you at the top of the globe \ud83c\udf0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mayor of Marseille, Beno\u00eet Payan, had previously shared that he would attempt to prevent the concert from taking place.<\/p>\n

Writing on X\/Twitter last month, he said: \u201cI refuse to let Marseille be a showcase for those who promote hatred and unapologetic Nazism. Kanye West is not welcome at the V\u00e9lodrome, our temple of living together and of all Marseillais.\u201d<\/p>\n

A series of festival sponsors cut their ties with Wireless following Ye\u2019s booking, including Pepsi<\/a>,\u00a0drinks giant Diageo<\/a>,\u00a0PayPal and Rockstar Energy<\/a>, putting huge pressure on organisers to take action.<\/p>\n

West had shared a fresh apology for his past remarks amid the controversy surrounding his Wireless appearances<\/a> shortly before the event was axed. He addressed the criticism in a new update<\/a>\u00a0to his\u00a0Wall Street Journal \u201cto those I\u2019ve hurt\u201d letter<\/a>, which he originally shared in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been following the conversation around Wireless and want to address it directly,\u201d West wrote. \u201cMy only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through music.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Jewish community in the UK in person, to listen. I know words aren\u2019t enough \u2013 I\u2019ve have to show change through my actions. If you\u2019re open, I\u2019m here. With Love.\u201d<\/p>\n

Melvin Benn, the managing director of Festival Republic, which co-promotes Wireless alongside Live Nation, had previously spoken out to call West\u2019s past antisemitic comments \u201cabhorrent\u201d, but urged people to \u201coffer some forgiveness\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

West\u2019s initial apology letter saw him open up about a \u201cfour-month-long manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behaviour that destroyed [his] life\u201d, admitting that he \u201cdidn\u2019t want to be here anymore\u201d on some occasions. Ye also shared details of\u00a0his bipolar type-1 diagnosis<\/a>, which\u00a0he\u2019d dismissed early last year<\/a>. At the time, he said it was \u201creally a case of autism\u201d.<\/p>\n

West kicked off his 2026 world tour at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, at the start of this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He has also confirmed dates in New Delhi, India (May 23), Istanbul, Turkey (May 30), Arnhem, the Netherlands (June 6, 8), Chorz\u00f3w, Poland (June 19), Reggio Emilia, Italy (July 18), Madrid, Spain (July 30), and Loul\u00e9, Portugal (August 7).<\/p>\n

The upcoming European gigs mark West\u2019s first headline dates on the continent in 12 years. His scrapped Wireless performances would\u2019ve been his first UK shows since he headlined Glastonbury in 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n
