TAIPEI, April 16 (Reuters) – TSMC (TSM<\/a>), the world’s largest manufacturer of advanced artificial intelligence<\/a> chips, will likely notch up a fourth \u200cconsecutive quarter of record earnings with a 50% surge in net profit for \u200cJanuary-March driven by booming demand for AI infrastructure.<\/p>\n Demand for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co’s 3-nanometre technology to produce AI chips \u200band its advanced packaging technology continues to outstrip the firm’s current production capacity, according to analysts.<\/p>\n That’s driven Asia’s most valuable company, a key supplier to Nvidia<\/a> and Apple<\/a>, to new heights. Its market capitalisation is now nearly double that of South Korean rival Samsung Electronics at \u200caround $1.68 trillion.<\/p>\n On Thursday, TSMC is \u2060expected to report a net profit of T$543.3 billion ($17.23 billion) for the first quarter, according to an LSEG SmartEstimate compiled from 19 analysts.
