Following on from its record-breaking debut earlier last year, the highly anticipated hit U and U&DRAMA crime series, Bergerac, is back for a second series.<\/p>\n

Season one of the ’80s spinoff amassed a whopping 2.4 million viewers, becoming the broadcaster’s highest rated show in 2025. Now the Damien Molony-fronted show hopes to hook viewers again with new, perplexing twists as the series synopsis reads: “Jim Bergerac (Moloney) is back facing the most challenging case of his career when shocking events unfold at a wedding reception on Jersey.<\/p>\n

“Jim’s even tentatively started dating, with [daughter] Kim’s (Chlo\u00e9 Sweetlove) encouragement, although he still feels the hole in his life since his wife died. Privately he doesn’t hold out much hope of meeting someone and is doing it more for Kim’s benefit than his own. But then he meets Nicola (Camilla Beeput), a visitor to the island, and they connect. Could this be the start of something for Bergerac?”<\/p>\n

It continued: \u202f”But in the same breath as meeting Nicola, Bergerac is pulled into his next big case when the groom at a wedding reception is found murdered in his hotel room. Could the groom’s final words hold the key to the killer’s identity? Jersey needs their best detective to start digging.”<\/p>\n

During an interview with ITV<\/a> The Split’s Molony said he was “thrilled” to be returning as Jim Bergerac. “Everyone worked so hard on the first series and it just felt like a lovely reward to get a chance to come back to Jersey and do it all again.” <\/p>\n

He continued: “With a second series there’s a wonderful sense of confidence that comes with that and a great sense of pride.”<\/p>\n

Of Jim’s season two journey Molony said: “I think everyone has moved on. Jim has moved on\u2026 He meets someone quite special and it doesn’t all go to plan. It might turn out that she’s involved in the case in a way that makes their relationship slightly trickier.”

Jim is not the only one whose romantic life is heating up this season as the synopsis also shared that passion is on the horizon for Zo\u00eb Wanamaker’s character as it revealed: “Romance is also in the air for Bergerac’s formidable mother-in-law Charlie Hungerford, who has found a new man in her life, the effervescent, charming Nigel (Adrian Edmondson).”<\/p>\n
