Sepideh Moafi filmed a call with Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi\u2019s ex-husband that viewers didn\u2019t get to see during The Pitt<\/a>\u2019s season-two finale.<\/p>\n

Episode 15 picks right up with the revelation that the Pitt\u2019s new senior attending is experiencing a resurgence of absence seizures she\u2019s battled since a childhood case of viral meningitis. But after coming to Dr. Michael \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) for advice from a trusted colleague, Al-Hashimi\u2019s met with threats against her career, accused of putting patients in danger, and told she shouldn\u2019t even get behind the wheel of a car.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way he acts and reacts and punishes her for it is her worst nightmare,\u201d the 40-year-old Iranian-American actor tells Glamour. \u201cEverything that she\u2019s feared her whole entire life is confirmed, right? \u2018If I\u2019m honest about this, then I will lose everything.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s particularly notable, therefore, that the last time we do see Dr. Al-Hashimi is not inside the hospital, but behind the wheel of her sensible silver Volvo XC90. \u201cShe gets in the car in an act of defiance because she would never do this on any other day,\u201d Moafi continues. \u201cShe knows that she\u2019s had two seizures, and while that doesn\u2019t threaten her medical license\u2014even though Robby is threatening her license\u2014it does compromise her position as a driver. She\u2019s been through this before, but it\u2019s almost as if she\u2019s being pulled into her childhood or something. She stomps her feet and says, \u2018Fuck you, I can do this.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Gone is the structured Lululemon jacket<\/a> that represented Al-Hashimi\u2019s poised, almost rigid approach to running the Emergency Department, in contrast to Dr. Robby\u2019s free-wheeling management style\u2014and so, it seems, is the infallible doctor that shook off all of Dr. Robby\u2019s barbs throughout the season as she attempted to gain a foothold in the Pitt so he could embark on a three-month sabbatical on his beat-up motorcycle.<\/p>\n

But the second Al-Hashimi pulls out of her parking spot in that final scene, Moafi says, she imagined her son in the backseat and reconsidered, calling up her ex-husband to ask him to keep their kid overnight.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s this moment where he says, \u2018Is everything okay?\u2019 And she says, \u2018Yeah, I\u2019m just having car troubles and running late. I\u2019ll pick him up in the morning.\u2019 And he says, \u2018Do you want me to pick you up?\u2019\u201d Moafi says, getting slightly choked up at the memory. \u201cIt\u2019s just like a stab in her heart, and she takes a beat, tries to breathe, and in the most convincing performance of her life, says, \u2018No, I\u2019m fine. I\u2019m good. I have it taken care of.
