Married At First Sight <\/a>groom Danny Hewitt <\/a>has apologised after footage emerged of him slamming the show’s experts for pairing him with Bec Zacharia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The British real estate agent has been absent from social media since Stan’s\u00a0After The Dinner Party<\/a>\u00a0posted the clip of the 34-year-old saying he could have found a better wife at Coles.<\/p>\n

He also said Bec’s behaviour on the show<\/a> would have been acceptable if she was a 15 out of 10, but he said she was not that attractive.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, the comments shocked Bec and she was left in tears after seeing it.<\/p>\n

Danny has now commented on the “horrendous” remarks.<\/p>\n

“I am sure most of you hate me, I don’t blame you,” he said in a TikTok video.<\/p>\n

“I hate myself so join the club. I wanted to jump on here and apologise for some of the comments, or all of the comments, I made on the Stan’After The Dinner Party show. <\/p>\n

“I am so ashamed of myself.”<\/p>\n

He specifically apologised for the way he spoke to and about Bec and fellow bride Stephanie Marshall, who was married to Tyson Gordon <\/a>on the show.<\/p>\n

However, Danny added that he had a “dry sense of humour” and it can “come across wrong” to people who don’t know him.<\/p>\n

“But I’m not here to make excuses or blame it on a sense of humour or anything like that. I’m here to own up to my mistakes and apologise,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I’ve probably got a lot of soul searching to do.”<\/p>\n

He added that no matter what people say to him or about him, he is thinking worse of himself at the moment.<\/p>\n

What is Danny apologising for?<\/p>\n

The controversial comments were aired on Stan’s After The Dinner Party right after the final episode on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Before the footage played, host Laura Byrne<\/a> told Bec it was going to be an “incredibly hard” watch.<\/p>\n

“You’re telling me that’s the best you’ve got? You ought to be ashamed of yourself MAFS<\/a>,” Danny said to the camera.<\/p>\n

“I gave up my life to be here and I could roll in Coles<\/a> right now and walk up to aisle four and there’s a bird in there and she’d be better than Bec<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It can’t be worse. It’s impossible.”<\/p>\n

Danny then said the Channel 9 staff were “s**t” at their jobs and demanded they “bring him better women”.<\/p>\n

Bec had a visceral reaction on the couch, with fellow bride Rachel Gilmore comforting her.<\/p>\n

“I don’t want to cry,” she said.<\/p>\n

Laura said that when she and fellow hosts Brittany Hockley and Jules Lund saw the clip for the first time, they were “actually horrified”.<\/p>\n

“All of it was revolting,” Laura said.<\/p>\n

It left Bec wondering whether Danny had other motivations for coming on the Channel 9 rather than for love.<\/p>\n

“He’s come on for fame,” she said. “If that’s how you feel about me, why did you sit there for three months straight?”<\/p>\n

She said as soon as those cameras left that interview, Danny told her he was falling in love with her.<\/p>\n

“He said, ‘I’m falling in love with you, I’ve been telling the cameras this for a week now,'” she said.<\/p>\n
