{"id":396703,"date":"2026-04-17T08:32:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T08:32:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/396703\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T08:32:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T08:32:12","slug":"oklo-ceo-says-nuclear-powers-everything-thats-cool-in-space-oklo-nyseoklo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/396703\/","title":{"rendered":"Oklo CEO Says Nuclear Powers Everything &#8216;That&#8217;s Cool In Space&#8217; &#8211; Oklo (NYSE:OKLO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Everything Cool Needs Nuclear<\/p>\n<p class=\"block core-block\">When asked if goals for nuclear-powered space exploration were far-fetched, DeWitte argued nuclear power is not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/trading-ideas\/movers\/26\/04\/51790003\/palantir-spacex-l3harris-and-more-defense-and-ai-stars-align-at-space-symposium-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a speculative technology<\/a> for space \u2014 it is a proven one that is finally being scaled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block core-block\">&#8220;We work with nuclear power to enable everything that we do that\u2019s cool in space,&#8221; DeWitte said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"block core-block\">The Oklo chief said nuclear energy will be required for propulsion, survival and day-to-day operations once missions move beyond low Earth orbit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"block core-block\">Traveling deeper into space and landing on the moon will demand dense, reliable power that solar simply cannot provide during long lunar nights or in the outer solar system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block core-block\">\u201cEverything that\u2019s cool in space needs nuclear,\u201d DeWitte said, pointing to crewed lunar bases, deep-space probes and surface operations as mission profiles that hinge on compact fission systems.<\/p>\n<p>From Moon Bases To Data Centers\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"block core-block\">The Sam Altman-backed company is building out not only its Aurora reactor design but also the surrounding ecosystem, including parts and materials, fuel fabrication and the production of isotopes that space missions will depend on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block core-block\">A 2028 timeline for nuclear power in space is \u201cdoable,\u201d DeWitte said, provided the industry continues <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/markets\/tech\/26\/04\/51752885\/ghost-murmur-lockheeds-quantum-heartbeat-hunter-the-cia-used-to-pluck-us-airman-out-of-irans-desert\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">unleashing supply chain <\/a>and production capability.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"block core-block\">That window aligns with NASA and Department of Defense goals for surface reactors on the moon and advanced propulsion demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block core-block\">The CEO also tied the space push back to Oklo\u2019s terrestrial business.
