\n\tOlivia Rodrigo<\/a>\u2018s new song \u201cDrop Dead\u201d just, well, dropped. <\/p>\n

\n\tOn Friday (April 17), the pop star shared her first single in years to kick off her You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love album era. The track is one of 13 that will appear on the June-slated LP, her first full-length since 2023\u2019s Billboard 200<\/a>-topper Guts. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDrop Dead\u201d also gives fans their first look at the concept behind Rodrigo\u2019s new album, which she explained in a recent interview<\/a> with British Vogue. \u201cI realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them,\u201d she said, revealing that You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is full of \u201csad love songs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFalling in love, [I thought] that the second I\u2019m in a really great relationship, I\u2019m gonna start feeling good about myself, and this stuff is going to fall into place. But it just doesn\u2019t work like that,\u201d she continued at the time. \u201cI\u2019m definitely a lover girl. Like, I want to be in something committed and so in love. And yeah, it\u2019s hard these days.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLeading up to the track\u2019s release, the Grammy winner shared videos on social media teasing \u201cDrop Dead.\u201d \u201cI hope you never finish that beer,\u201d she wrote over a video of herself sipping a Guinness, paired with a wispy, buoyant snippet of the single. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn another clip, she gazes out the window of a moving train. \u201cit\u2019s feminine intuition,\u201d reads pink text over the video.<\/p>\n

\n\tSo far, both of Rodrigo\u2019s lead singles to her past two albums have debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100<\/a>. First, \u201cDrivers License\u201d made her a global superstar ahead of the release of debut LP Sour, after which \u201cVampire\u201d topped the chart ahead of Guts.<\/p>\n
