Zayn Malik<\/a> has been hospitalized on the day that his new album, Konnakol, was released.<\/p>\n

Hours after the album became available for streaming, the 33-year-old singer<\/a> shared a picture of himself in a hospital gown wearing what appears to be a blood pressure cuff on his Instagram Story. Several wires could also be seen peeking out from under his arm. <\/p>\n

While he thanked his fans and doctors for their support, he didn\u2019t share further details about his health.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo my fans \u2013 Thank you to all of you for your love & support now & always. Been a long week and am still unexpectedly recovering,\u201d the One Direction alum<\/a> wrote. \u201cHeartbroken that I can\u2019t see you all this week, I wouldn\u2019t be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to all the incredible hospital staff of [doctors], nurses, cardiologist, management, admin and everyone who had helped along the way and continue to. You are all legends!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Independent has contacted representatives for Malik for comment.<\/p>\n

Malik <\/a>is set to begin his worldwide tour, The KONNAKOL TOUR, April 20, with his first show in New York City. He has not yet announced whether the show will go ahead as planned. <\/p>\n

His new album, featuring 15 songs, dropped Friday. However, its lead single, \u201cDie For Me,\u201d was released in February, only two days after the album was announced. <\/p>\n

The \u201cPillowtalk\u201d singer celebrated his new album and reflected on his achievements during a February appearance on Alex Cooper\u2019s Call Her Daddy podcast. <\/p>\n

\u201cFive solo albums now \u2014 I was just buzzing that I got to do the first one after [leaving] the band, [and] people seemed to care,\u201d he said, referring to his career after exiting One Direction in 2015. \u201cI\u2019m really proud of the progression and just the development and understanding of myself through my music.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an interview with Elle India<\/a>, published earlier this month, Malik opened up about writing Konnakol and making sure his South Asian background was a part of it. <\/p>\n

\u201cI got into the studio, booked in for 14 days\u2026 the process was trying to create this vision I had in my mind that didn\u2019t exist anywhere else,\u201d he said. \u201cThere was no point of reference I could pull from or say, \u2018I want it to be like this.\u2019 Even though I was drawing from Konnakol in terms of the technique and bringing in South Asian influences, it was still something I\u2019m proposing to a Western market, and I wanted it to still be R&B but have that flavor.\u201d<\/p>\n
