G-SHOCK makes arguably the toughest watches<\/a> on the planet, but not every one of its timepieces necessarily looks as tactical as it performs.<\/p>\n

Every once in a while we\u2019ll be treated to a red-tinted LCD version<\/a> of the brand\u2019s watches (like we got with the Fine Metallic collection earlier this year) reminding us how mission-ready they actually are. But this time around, the Japanese firm went full green and black to evoke night-vision goggles used in the field. Even some of its more lifestyle-focused models get the treatment.<\/p>\n

All five watches in the Black & Electro Green Collection share a fully blacked-out case, bezel, and band. The LCD displays, meanwhile, are rendered in a bold electro-green hue that pops hard against the dark surroundings, like the kind of look you\u2019d associate with old military radar screens<\/a> or a pair of NVGs. The look is complemented with green-tipped hands and dial accents as well.<\/p>\n

Every model here is rated to 200m of water resistance<\/a>, sports resin or carbon-composite construction, and ships with a matching resin strap. Across the board, you\u2019re also getting the brand\u2019s standard shock-resistant architecture, world time, a stopwatch, timer, and auto calendar. These are just cosmetic updates.<\/p>\n

\nTactical Favorites<\/p>\n

What\u2019s interesting about this particular lineup is how well it maps to G-SHOCK\u2019s own evolution as a brand. The GD-010BEG-1JF is the entry point at under $100. This model launched only in 2024, making it the newest of the five, and it features a fully digital display similar to the Casio ProTrek lineup, a carbon core guard structure built from biomass plastic, and a roughly 10-year battery life. The electro-green LCD is massive and the cleanest of the bunch in that chunky 51.9mm case, and the green \u201c10 YEAR BATTERY\u201d text on-dial is a nice touch.<\/p>\n

Arguably the most tactical-looking of the collection, the GA-100BEG-1AJF takes us back to 2010, when the oversized analog-digital G-SHOCK became mainstream rather than a niche accessory. With its triple-graph dial layout and dual green LCDs at the six o\u2019clock position, the GA-100 still looks like it owns the room. Two-year battery and JIS Class 1 anti-magnetic resistance are the trade-offs for that bolder, more mechanical silhouette. At the same price point, the GA-700BEG-1AJF pushes the big-case formula even further. Introduced in 2017, it\u2019s the brute of the bunch at 53.4mm across with aggressive resin bumpers and a commanding textured front-light button that\u2019s grown on fans over the years. A single clean green LCD and large 3D hands replace the GA-100\u2019s bi-section layout, and a five-year battery gives it more longevity.<\/p>\n

\nTwo Modern Classics<\/p>\n

Then there\u2019s the GA-B2100BEG-1AJF. The \u201cCasiOak,\u201d as it\u2019s been dubbed by fans since its 2019 debut, is easily the most important G-SHOCK released in the past decade. Casio spent nearly two years developing it as a slimmer, more refined evolution of the original DW-5000 spirit, and it shows. At 45.4mm across it\u2019s the most stylistically versatile (and wearable) of the group by a notable margin. It also adds Tough Solar charging and Bluetooth smartphone connectivity. Mostly black due to the minimal digital display real estate, the electro-green accent is subtly integrated via a bottom-right LCD and a green day indicator, which suits the lifestyle character of the case.<\/p>\n

Topping out the range at nearly $200, the GA-B010BEG-1AJF is the tech leader. With Tough Solar, Bluetooth, and a built-in step tracker that can log up to 999,999 steps with configurable reminders, it\u2019s the most feature-dense option in the collection. The slotted bezel and distinctly patterned dial give it a futuristic edge that breaks from the analog-heavy look of the others.<\/p>\n

Pricing & Availability<\/p>\n

The G-SHOCK Black & Electro Green Collection launched in Japan, starting at \u00a514,850 (~$94) for the GD010 and topping out at \u00a527,500 (~$174) for the B010. International availability hasn\u2019t been confirmed, but given the crossover appeal of models like the GA-B2100, we wouldn\u2019t be surprised to see at least a few of these land stateside.<\/p>\n
