While attending American Idol\u2019s \u201890s night, the 49-year-old actress took a moment to reflect on that era and the lasting imprint that it left on her life. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight<\/a>, she shared a deep sense of nostalgia not just for the show, but for the feeling of the decade itself.<\/p>\n \u201cI miss the ’90s. It was, like, the last innocent decade before the world got really heavy,\u201d Barber told the outlet. \u201cAnd it just brings about comfort and safety and love, and what’s not to love about that.\u201d<\/p>\n Andrea Barber (left) and Candace Cameron (right). For Barber, the nostalgia goes beyond personal memories \u2014 it also speaks to the television landscape that helped launch her career.\u00a0While speaking to ET, Barber pointed to the dominance of network programming during that time, describing it as a unifying force for audiences.<\/p>\n \u201cDude, man, network TV, that was where it was,\u201d Barber said, calling the \u201890s the \u201cnetwork TV heyday.\u201d<\/p>\n While she acknowledged today\u2019s streaming-heavy environment, she admitted that something has been lost along the way.\u00a0\u201cNow, you know, it’s a little bit fractured,\u201d Barber explained, adding that although the variety is \u201cokay,\u201d she misses the simplicity of sitcoms.<\/p>\n In her view, audiences could benefit from returning to lighter programming, noting that \u201cwe don’t need heavy TV, we don’t need dramatic or sad TV, we just want to laugh and let go.\u201d<\/p>\n Candace Cameron Bure, Bob Saget, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber in 2016. Even more meaningful than the industry itself, however, are the relationships Barber built during her years on Full House, which ran for eight seasons and continues to find new audiences decades later.<\/p>\n During the \u201890s event, she emphasized that her castmates remain an important part of her life today. \u201cThey’re so special,\u201d she admits. \u201cThey are family. Absolutely family.\u201d<\/p>\n That bond is still very present today, as Barber shared that the cast had just been texting in their group chat ahead of the event to celebrate Candace Cameron Bure<\/a> turning 50.\u00a0The milestone also prompted Barber to reflect on her own life, noting that she, too, will be hitting the same age this year.<\/p>\n Calling it \u201ca big moment,\u201d she told ET that despite the number, she doesn\u2019t quite feel it, adding with a smile, \u201cI still feel like that 15-year-old in Kimmy Gibbler’s clothes.\u201d<\/p>\n![\"Andrea](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/54ad604131b333383300df4fcbdc43bf.jpeg\"\/)
