Nadia Far\u00e8s<\/a>, the Moroccan-French actress who starred in \u201cThe Crimson Rivers<\/a>,\u201d died on Friday. She was 57.<\/p>\n

Far\u00e8s was found unconscious in a swimming pool last week and had been in a coma after. Her daughters confirmed she died of cardiac arrest in a statement to Agence France-Presse<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Nadia Far\u00e8s this Friday. France has lost a great artist, but for us, it is above all a mother whom we have just lost,\u201d Cylia and Shana Chasman said, originally in French. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Far\u00e8s made her film debut in 1992 with \u201cMy Wife\u2019s Girlfriends\u201d and rose to fame for her role in the 2000 police thriller \u201cThe Crimson Rivers,\u201d where she starred opposite Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel and was directed by Mathieu Kassovitz. <\/p>\n

She later appeared as Agent Jade Kinler in the 2007 action-thriller \u201cWar,\u201d and as Pia in the 2007 horror film \u201cStorm Warning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Born Dec. 20, 1968, in Marrakesh, Far\u00e8s grew up in Nice before moving to Paris to pursue a career in film.<\/p>\n

In 2009, Far\u00e8s stepped away from her career and moved to the U.S. after marrying Los-Angeles-based producer Steve Chasman. She returned to acting in 2016 with Netflix\u2019s drama series Marseille. She and Chasman had two daughters together and eventually separated in 2022, and Far\u00e8s moved back to France.<\/p>\n

On 11 April, Far\u00e8s was found unconscious in a gym swimming pool at the private sports complex of Blanche in Paris. She was rescued by a fellow swimmer who attempted to revive her by administering CPR before being taken to Piti\u00e9-Salp\u00eatri\u00e8re Hospital, where she was put into an artificially induced coma until she suffered cardiac arrest on April 17.<\/p>\n

The French newspaper Le Figaro <\/a>reported that an investigation had been opened into the cause of her injuries and that \u201cno offense has been identified at this stage.\u201d<\/p>\n
